CANbus diagnostics

does anyone have any equipment for CANbus diagnostics?  not for a car, so not ODBII, just low level CAN.

I no longer have any of the equipment used on hand, but in a previous life I designed control boards around some of Microchip's CAN-enabled products.   Very simple, basically just chips like the MCP25020 that acting as nodes on a CAN bus, providing low-speed GPIO.

Microchip had some handy debug and diagnostics as part of the design suite for these products, including a dongle like this.  Looks like $100 pricing.

If you already have an elm 327 and want to sniff an arbitrary can bus, it can be reprogrammed. It sounds like someone in the group has pic programming capabilities. I have written can sniffing firmware. See the blog post I did at area515.
