I've added a placeholder on the calendar, do we want to do anything official?

Pot luck?

There are some arduino "how-to's" I could use to learn

-How to program multiple motors for motion and steering

-How to use sensors for feedback programming

-Generally compiling different bits of code from different sources to make it work, ie. if I find sensor code from one library how do I make it work with motor code from somewhere else.

I know it is pretty basic stuff, but I'm a newb.

I'd be interested in a side class on an intro to programming non-arduinos. I'm currently staring at a Beaglebone and a few Parallax boards from the now out of stock Radio Shacks.
Nothing too fancy, but maybe accompanied by a one slide overview of the main pros/cons

I'm in for beaglebone and raspberry pi.

and Arduino.

I propose starting at 1 or 2 as an open house format, have the space's
arduinos and laptops out for people to experiment with, and maybe a
couple talks and scheduled demos. I can do something on motors.

I have another event at 6, so someone else would need to be there to
take over from there, and if there's a pot luck, handle that part.

I like automatic front door unlocker day, that sounds like an awesome way to celebrate.

Oops - I guess you already answered that with your 'now out of stock' descriptor.

I can try to put together a presentation on sensors.

So is this a Thing?

Looking to Schedule Board Game day, and if this is going on I'll find a different day, But so far all I've seen in the thread is a Bunch of "I could" statements, and nothing set in stone.

I'm having a hard time judging how much outside interest this event would bring to AR. I can't really find much info about it outside of the Arduino organization's official outlets. Do people think that it could bring in new people to AR? If not, I think we would be better off planning classes on our own schedule (which I know myself and others are working on).

I think it could, but not without a multi-month campaign. they
announced the date WAY to late.

I am still interested. My son has a lacrosse game from 12-1. 2pm would be better for me.

I agree, this has the potential to bring in many outside people, if organized and publicized ahead of time. Maybe we should move out about a month, make specific date, time, and agenda plans, then get the word out. Look at how popular the last 4 week long arduino class was.

Sorry, I didn't realize it was a thing for March 28th. I still think we should do something. That is still two weeks away, we should be able to get some people to come, just not maybe as from outside.

I do not think the regular Board Game night needs to be rescheduled. Games in the lab. Arduinos in the lounge?

Games often take over the lounge too.

I'm inclined to skip this one. I tried to fill out their form a few
weeks ago and got errors that pointed to a server config issue on
their end. IMO, Arduino needs to get a bit more on top of things
before Arduino Day is something people are going to pay attention to.

Also, I agree we should do our own thing later, and start up another
class series.

A couple people have already volunteered to talk on a few topics. If anyone else would like to exercise their knowledge and teach something along the lines of circuits, programming, or microcontrollers, shoot me an email at directoro...@archreactor.org and we can put our heads together and find a date or series of dates for an event.

Ok well then I'm Slotting in the Board Game day.  for the 28th.  Can whomever have Calender Control Approve it?

I don't currently see your event.  I went ahead and deleted the existing event, so yours will get auto accepted when you create it.
