Quick question around telemetry (Voltage, Temp) for those radios that embed this info (TM-D710x in my case).  I'm showing, for the Denver area, all radios that can send this info, seems to have stopped reporting this (mine without any changes to settings) around 50 days ago.  Is this an APRS.fi issue, or an area wide decision to start excluding this info?  Not sure how that would work.

Any help would be appreciated.

You're not saying which station this is about, but I'm guessing you're
referring to W0KDE-8 (http://aprs.fi/info/a/W0KDE-8). When reporting an
issue please specify which station is having the problem.

aprs.fi is not dropping this - if it did, you would probably see the
telemetry packets in the raw packets list
(http://aprs.fi/?c=raw&call=W0KDE-8) and most likely also see a red error
message in there too, if there'd be a problem with the packets.

Most likely the radio is just not sending that any more. If telemetry
packets were no longer passed on by the igate stations around your area,
that would have to be coordinated to be done by all those stations around
there, and they usually are not coordinated stations at all, people just
set them up at home and they run a lot of different software. Why would
they do that sort of coordinated filtering effort?

I didn't know that D710's generated telemetry packets?  I could be wrong, but can you show a D710 that IS generating telemetry?

I can give several radios that all stopped around the same time. None of which have changed settings. (W0RDR-9, N0DAX-9, W0KDE-8). Two are D710's one is a FTM-350. All of which stopped around 50 days ago. All of which are in the Denver area.

I can show you several that used to. (W0KDE-8, W0KDE-6, W0RDR-9, and one FTM-350 N0DAX-9).

It turns out that they didn't.

I went to look in my backup archives, and I can't find any telemetry from
that station around that date, just regular position packets and no
telemetry:

1478211306 W0KDE-8>SY3QXQ,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1,qAR,W0ARP:`pP:l"6K\]"H(}449.450MHz=
1478211335 W0KDE-8>SY3QXS,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1,qAR,W0ARP:`pP;l}9K\]"H0}449.450MHz=

Instead, there is quite a lot of broken packets, which look like this.
They're combined packets from multiple stations. This is probably some
broken igate setup there, loosing some ends and beginnings of packets and
merging the data around them together. These have WA0GEH in the path, so
that'd be the likely location for the problem. This kind of bugging could
potentially get some telemetry from station A to be appended to the end of
a packet from station B.

Same story here, just regular position packets with no telemetry:

And then a lot of broken/concatenated packets like this, via WA0GEH:

Incidentally, WA0GEH has not been online for the last 51 days, so maybe it
was shut down and the problem of merged packets went away with it:
http://aprs.fi/info/a/WA0GEH

To my knowledge the kenwood D710 is not capable of sending telemetry.
Maybe you could check the manual if you can find any mention of it?

How interesting. That would certainly explain it. I did look through the D710 manual and did not find any reference to setting up telemetry. I do have byonics MG-RTG that does transmit the telemetry (w0kde-9), but haven’t driven that car in quite a while.

Thanks so much for digging into this. I was pretty excited to think the D710 sent telemetry :) Too bad it doesn’t.

Best of /73s and Merry Christmas. Also, thanks very much for the service you provide.
