Hi,
F5OPV-Wx1 is using a weather station symbol, and the APRS parser used by
aprs.fi (Ham::APRS::FAP, open source) does not parse comments and comment
extensions for weather stations - instead, it tries to interpret it as
weather data:
http://aprs.fi/?c=raw&call=F5OPV-IOT&limit=5&view=decoded
This is apparently to avoid ambiguity between weather parsing and other
information stored in the comment; for example, a car's course and speed
can be encoded the same way as a weather stations' wind direction and
speed. It's a bit silly, but the APRS specification (APRS101.PDF) says "In
this case, the Weather Report is identified with the weather symbol /_ or
\_ in the APRS Data." - the symbol is actually used to decide weather the
packet is parsed as a weather report or not.
I'll discuss with Tapio, who originally wrote that code, and other parser
authors if that can be relaxed.
In the mean time, you can switch the symbol character to something else
than '_' to have comments parsed.
