How to access JSON data via API

I am a beginner. I am trying to write some simple js code to return JSON data using the API. When I use the API in my browser, the JSON data returns, but gives me permission errors when I try to access it through an editor I am using, p5.js. Can someone please give advice or point me in the right direction?
