I Deleted Google group but still receiving email

Hi 

Recently I deleted a group of which I was owner and emails sent to this group would arrive in my inbox. 

I am however still receiving email sent to this address . 

When I go into the admin console to check neither the email address or group are there ? 

Seriously hope that some one can shed some light on this and how to resolve the issue.
