Hi Leon,

We just made an update to our roadmap that includes features, and persistent file storage is one of our top priorities. However, it sounds to me like what you want to accomplish would be better served by connecting your app to an external data storage system like Amazon's S3. That would keep your app's created files persistent and accessible by all of your other apps.

I hope that helps, but please let us know if you have more questions. Thanks!

I didn't see any answer to John's question [When] "can I persistently store files on appfog ...? " on the roadmap.

What are the file permissions like for a running Java app? I was able to create a new folder in the Tomcat folder and even in the directory above the Tomcat folder. For me, this is the directory: /mnt/var/vcap.local/dea/apps/proctinator-0-2454292c8216c9ab62b17199d663326c

Could I deploy another app (Java or otherwise) and just use the created path for file storage? This way when I restart my app, I won't destroy the data stored in the OTHER app. But this can only work if my Tomcat app has the required write permissions.

Good morning, folks.

This feature is no longer in production and has not been in a while as most of you have probably guessed. We are, however, working on a new version of AppFog and you can sign up for the limited beta here:

Half a year on top priority and still nothing?

We are working very hard on this, there is nothing that works securely and scalably out of the box, we are developing new technology to make this work, I am very sorry for the delay. We should have it out soon though.

Hi Lucas,

How is it going with this? I'm anxious to ditch my traditional hosting for Appfog. I really just need persistent storage to make my WordPress sites work Appfog.

Look forward to this features.

Thank you,
Taras

Hey Lucas,
You guys are doing an awesome job already, and I am sure you will come up with the best solution for persistent storage, though its an absolute must, we can make things work temporarily with S3 or AppEngine.

All the best
Sarfaraz

Also wonder what happens with the persistent file system? Another year has gone!
