Hey all, happy new year; hope all of you are doing great!

Just wondering, would we have quorum for an OSS hangout? We haven't
done one in a while, but I am thinking Sat 23 or Sun 24 around noon
EST.

Show of hands? If we get more than 5 replies here, I'll set it up in G+.

cheers,
José

Both dates look good to me.

Hi José

Happy New Year

Both dates are good for me.

Haven't done anything on AI source code since last March but I have a few new ideas for extensions components I want to work on this year. Over the Christmas period I have been playing round with google cardboard and have created an experimenting AI project in the standard MIT AI using 2 canvas's and a few image sprite. I managed to make this work pretty well with some really nice 3D effects but as there is only an accelerometer sensor component in AI which doesn't give the ability for head movement. To support Google Cardboard I will be looking to work on the following new AI components:

1) GyroSensor Component - I'll create this as an extension component to give head movement for google cardboard
2) GoogleCardboard Component - I will be looking to add a visible component to support Google Cardboard. I really would prefer to do this as an extension component but I don't think Visible extension components are supported yet looking at the dev docs for component extensions.

Maybe we can discuss extension components at the hangout as I have a few query's on this topic and would like some advise on the possibility of adding native libraries to CDK and also visible components to the CDK.

Cheers
Gareth

Hey Gareth,

that sounds fantastic!

Note that there's a new Gyro component
(https://github.com/mit-cml/appinventor-sources/blob/ucr/appinventor/components/src/com/google/appinventor/components/runtime/GyroscopeSensor.java).
It's in the ucr branch, so hasn't been released yet, but you can grab
it from there.

With regards to the CDK, I haven't really looked into it yet, so
couldn't answer any questions. Hopefully Jeff or any of the devs that
worked on it over the summer will be around!!! :)

In any case, 3 of us so far; if we get another 2 people, I'll set it
up... who's in?

cheers,
José

Any one else planing on popping over? It turns out I can't do
Saturday, so we'd be going for Sun 24 at noon EST (unless anyone else
wants to organise Sat?)

We need two more people! :)

cheers,
José

Hi Jos,

Is it ok if I join along in the hangouts? I'd like to learn more of how I could get involved in the MIT App Inventor. I was wondering if you were referring to the aiplayapp file in GitHub.

Let me know if that is ok :)

Hi Lihn, of course, you are more than welcome to join. Not sure what you mean about the aiplayapp?
