Is it possible to repackage a canvas as an extension and what would be the best way to do this?

I'm looking to slightly modify a canvas and re-up it as an extension the code should be pre-existing what is the best way to accomplish this?

Ok I found the ball.java file under runtime and I am attempting to edit it after I do so do I just simply change the file name from .java to .aix?

The one thing I know about extensions is that it cannot be a visible component.
So, your modified canvas has to wait until someone makes visible components possible.
