Has anyone used paylite's communication API?

I have been looking for an easy way to track emails send through my SMTP without having to write and manage all that code AND a database. I came across PayLite's Communication API, which looks promising, but I haven't heard of them before... has anyone tried this?

I would be interested in your experience and if there were any gotchas.
