Hi all,

Just in case people want an alternative channel for discussions, I've also set up a Slack group for people who want to chat in that kind of forum. I also poked around meetup.com and added channels for each of the Regional API Craft groups I saw in there. That way if you wanted to have discussions about your own regional agendas, happenings, topics, etc, you could do that. There are also #general and #random channels for non-localized discussions. AND, finally, feel free to add whatever channels you want.

Have fun!

Lorinda

Do you need to work at one of those companies?

No, you just have to care about APIs. Let me know if you have any trouble joining...

Apparently you can only create an account if you have one of those preselected emails (see screenshot attachment). I don't have one of those emails :(

Hi Lorinda and All,

I ve just seen this thread and is quite funny (or not) but I was pinging some people to make an APIdays slack channel for the community of our 7 yearly conferences you know well.
I think we could make something really open and wider at global worldwide and required skill or topic  level for all API discussions.
(May be  it will become too chatty at some point but we will see)
The problem after that will be how to handle and "sponsor " a group of hundreds of participants for moderation , and for paying the thousands of $ of slack fees.
May be a google group is not so bad at all ;)

Let 's talk ,

Yes, I'm discovering the challenge... which is adding people to it.

here's what I was hoping - I was hoping that the regional groups that currently get together would be able to have discussions on their own channels but also partcipate on broader channels. API Craft has the nice aspect of having an overall identity but also regional groups.

Slack is killing me with its stupid way of inviting people. I would have expected there to be a way for people to request access and have the moderator just approve or reject. But noooo...

Anyway, if anyone is interested in joining the Slack group, just ping me at lindyb...@gmail.com and I'll add you.

I know that there's a project you can put on hero just or something to automate inviting people, and basically solves the problem. Not sure what it's called, and I'm afk right now.

OKAY!! Many thanks to Hussain Chinoy for pointing me to ways to solve this problem. I've deployed a little sign-in app to Heroku so you can actually request an invite the way I was hoping you could.

If you want to join, please use this:

Sorry for how long and convoluted this all got... :-)
