On the ASUS T100 Ubuntu there was a mention about a fix for the MMC hang. The patch provided by Adrian Hunter https://lkml.org/lkml/2015/3/24/273 has this following description

Intel Baytrail has been observed sometimes to hang
if host controllers are using DMA while deep C-states
are used. Workaround that by specifying a maximum
DMA latency that will prevent deep C-states.

Hoping that this is the light at the end of the tunnel!
