Make device report correct resolution to app

I have build a device with a 4k resolution panel. It can play the 4k video very well.

The device is running on Android 4.4.2.

But with android native app, the reported resolution is only 1920*1080.

Do we need do any developments that make the OS to detect a correct resolution ?
