View visibility status not restored automatically

There were multiple questions on SO about this, but there are no educated responses to those question. So, I am positing this quesition there

When Button with id is restored within an activity, the visibility state is not being restored automatically, when onRestoreInstanceState is run.

I believe it is reasonable to assume that the visibility state of these views would be restored automatically. But thats not case.

Is it a bug/there is some reasoning that I am missing on why visibility status is not being restored
