Problem with OpenSL multiple objects API25 (Nougat 7.1.1)

NOTE:

The error in the console when running the app in Android Studio emulator is:
E/libOpenSLES: Error after prepare: 1

Works in API17, 18, 19, 21, 22
FAILS in API 23
Works in API24
FAILS in API25

Very frustrating.  Does anyone know what is going on here?  Is there a way that I can fix or work around the problem.
