If you want an IDE for Android Development then Android Studio is the way to go:
https://developer.android.com/studio/index.html The NDK docs will be updated to refer to AS once 2.2 has been released to stable.
If you go that route, note that if you don't opt in to the preview build (2.2 RC) you'll need to use the Gradle Experimental plugin for building NDK libraries. With 2.2 you can use ndk-build or cmake though. 2.2 is pretty much stable at this point aiui (it normally moves from RC to released fairly quickly).
