Hi all,
I just wanted to ask what is the future of Gradle experimental plugin. The latest version that I can find (0.8.2) - as far as I can see - doesn't support Gradle 3.X. Also I cannot find any changelog for these latest versions - last one I can find is 0.6.x (http://tools.android.com/tech-docs/new-build-system/gradle-experimental).

Even Google is advising to migrate: "Attention experimental Gradle users: Consider migrating to plugin version 2.2.0 or higher, and using CMake or ndk-build to build your native libraries if any of the following apply to you: Your native project already uses CMake or ndk-build; you would rather use a stable version of the Gradle build system; or you want support for add-on tools, such as CCache. Otherwise, you can continue to use the experimental version of Gradle and the Android plugin."

So should we switch or experimental plugin will always be there as an alternative in the form of Gradle’s new component model mechanism.

Thanks for any hint.

Best,
Martin

I recommend that you start to move towards either CMake or ndk-build.

I have switched to CMake and some old projects we use ndk-build, I find that Gradle experimental plugin is hard to use.

Hi,
for anyone reading this there is now official statement from Google: android-developers.blogspot.com/2016/11/make-and-ndk-build-support-in-android.html.

Thanks for replies.
