App gets "JNI ERROR (app bug): accessed stale local reference" only when running on lollipop

Hi, I have an app that targets API9. Has been running fine forever. When running on lollipop I have the error above.

The app loads the .so fine, it starts fine. When I'm making a subsequent call into the library, I get the error above.

Any ideas?
