Using XMPPHP or JAXL to successfully connect to CCS

Has anyone here ever SUCCESSFULLY used the XMPPHP or JAXL libraries to connect to CCS? If so, could I see some code samples please?

I have been searching forever for ways to connect to CCS from a PHP backend to no avail, and I'm at that point where my brain is starting to hurt-- literally-- from a deluge of poor documentation or lack thereof and useless forum and blog posts...!
