Hi,
I have compiled the platform before for x86 and it worked well.
I wanted to clean all apps and recompile them so I did : make installclean
(didn't make any changes)

After this I get the error:
build/core/java.mk:258: *** bin/packages/apps/ContactsCommon/TestCommon: Target java module does not define any source or resource files

I have tried repo sync, but it didn't help.
I attached the log I get when I do: make showcommands -d

Couldn't find anyone who had this problem on the Internet

See log file attached
tmp_clean.txt

What is the 'bin' directory doing there? No version of AOSP has any
source code in such a directory.

did you open any of the source folders in eclipse, if so you should clean bin folder in this project manually before starting any build operation.

Don't know if this helped the OP, but it sure helped me.  Duh.  Thanks!
