Android build error for naugat

I always get the following error when i try to build AOSP

Starting build with ninja

ninja: Entering directory `.'

ninja: error: 'out/target/common/obj/PACKAGING/public_api.txt', needed by 'out/target/common/obj/PACKAGING/checkpublicapi-last-timestamp', missing and no known rule to make it

make: *** [ninja_wrapper] Error 1

I gave make update-api , I tried different JDK version. 

I am running Ubuntu 16.04 with 8GB ram on an I5 PC

Hi Hari,

Go to the folder/module you are trying to update.
Launch the command 'mma'
Then try building make
