Hi all,

A bit late to the party on this one, but this is my first real return
to imaging after 7+ years having pretty much completed setup of my
observatory (though I have lots of tweaking to do including more PEC
tuning, alignments, etc).

Here's a very quick and dirty process of Comet Lovejoy in Luminance
from the evening of the 8th - 26x1min using the FLT110 @ f7, exposures
start 4min apart, ST2000XM.

Also of note are NGC746 (fuzz bottom right), and UGC1504 (less obvious
fuzz bottom left).

I have colour frames ready reduced, but unprocessed, and I want to try
and work out how to combine with a static star field (have tried
Hubl's method but haven't quite cracked it yet...), but nevertheless I
am back in the land of the imaging :)

Cheers

Graeme

Hi Graeme,

A lovely clear image. Well stacked too. I took one about the same time.
20150208 192207 UT. I spotted the NGC 746, but missed UGC1504.
Weather was bad here so only managed one half decent shot of it.

Best Wishes,

Tony.

Thanks Tony - pleased with this first effort - need to sit down with a bit more time to process though!

Hubl's method wasn't giving particularly good results on the median/sigma clip - struggling to get rid of a lot of stars especially the outer bloat in the stars... need a bit of a fresh look.

Hi Graeme,

Processing seems fine. You could increase the gaps between the stars by skipping every other or two images in your stacking process. It will not affect the comet much.
