Those of you who are heading North for the Eclipse or just want to watch the eclipse on a webcam the weather forecasts are available:

Faroes:

https://translate.google.co.uk/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dmi.dk%2Ffaeroeerne%2Fvejret%2Ffemdoegnsudsigt-fo%2F&edit-text=

Translation of http://www.dmi.dk/faeroeerne/vejret/femdoegnsudsigt-fo/ (Google Chrome should translate it automatically)

Current forecast is

Friday:
Fresh breeze to gale around northeast, 10 to 15 m / s, which accounts for slight to moderate breeze, 3 to 8 m / s. First overcast with rain or sleet later clear and perhaps a few snow showers. Temp. between 1 and 4 degrees at night down around freezing.

There are three webcams at http://www.fae.fo/Default.aspx?pageid=14278 showing the airport – currently even worse than the UK.

Svalbard

The observatory at http://kho.unis.no/ has some web & science cameras but no information on eclipse viewing

Weather at http://www.yr.no/place/Norway/Svalbard/Longyearbyen/ also 4 webcams showing the town, harbour, observatory & a radio observatory

So cold with sunny intervals

No Polar Bears in sight but the observatory manual above has instructions on how to shoot them – 4 shots to the chest with a heavy rifle ! Then fill in lots of paperwork as they are a protected species.

SE UK is around 1 to 4 C with cloud

Sounds a bit of a challenge to see anything

Looks as though the TV may be the best option hoping the BBC aircraft can fly from the Faroes

Enjoy
