Now my report:
OT but may be of interest as it concerns gambling.
Harrington Delaware's totally non-smoking building, table games and poker.
Poker is mainly 1-2 no limit hold-em and I saw the 10 tables in a relatively
small room on second floor of the building and it is a way from the main
casino area. In speaking with the floor person in the room the tables are
normally packed on Fri-Sat after about 5 PM but I saw three tables in use at
1:30 PM Thursday. He said that they also can spread other games if enough
interest.
BJ - pretty good player odds. Minimum of $5 and Max of $500 was prevalent
at the time I was there but I am sure that the minimums will go up when busy
just like all other casinos. Dealer stands on ALL 17s although the felt
said hits 16 and soft 17 but a placard on a stand said the dealer must stand
on all 17s. This was verified when the dealer did have a soft 17 and ended
paying the table as everyone else had at least 18. Double downs on splits
with at least 3 splits allowed except Aces (from what I could determine
without asking.) No surrender. 8 decks with automatic shuffler (not
continuous shuffler.) Did not see any 1 or 2 deck games. At the time of
day I was there, the tray refills were prompt. (Had to refill the $500 rack
twice within 1 hour as one person was literally cleaning out the tray (2
hands @ $500.) On one run he had 8-8, split and now has 8-8-8. Gets a 8-3
first hand doubles now has 8-3-10. Second hand 8-2, doubles with a J for
8-2-J and on the third hand gets just a Q so he now has 21, 20, 18 on one
spot and doubles the second $500 spot and hits 21. Dealer busts. He kept
this kind of luck up for a couple of hours. Walked out at least $15,000 up.
He said he started with $1,000. I wasn't doing too bad either but not that
good.
Craps and Roulette (0 & 00) are $5 minimum and I didn't look to see the
craps odds (might get a chance to see tomorrow and if I do I'll reply.)
Usual assortment of carnival games with low minimums. Fortune Pai Gow (1
table) has a normal $10 minimum. LIR ($5) 3 & 4 card poker ($5), etc.
I'll be in the Dover casino tomorrow so I hope they have their tables and
poker open but their web site doesn't say it is yet. Some on the floor the
last time I was there said sometime in June.

I just hope that they continue to have the fairly good rules for the players
with decent minimums, unlike most of the NJ casinos have.
Wow ok it's Harrington not Herrington I should have read my speeding
ticket more closely.

Actually the real speed trap is Felton which is between Harrington and
Dover. Just about 1/4 mile of lower limit but there is almost always a
local sitting just beyond the 45 zone sign. He has no sense of humor
either.

Harrington follow-up as I was there tonight.
BJ still is the good play and pay but prices went up. Saw one $10 minimum
and others were $15 and $25 on the floor. They do have a few tables set
with 6 deck continuous shufflers that I didn't see before but a lot of the
tables do have the 8 deck auto shuffler that I posted before. Every BJ
table was full with waiting lines. Each BJ table has some kind of carnival
game attached. One is between the numbers where you bet that the dealer's
up card is between your first two cards with varying payback if there is a
1, 2, 3 or more card span in your hand. (I played this Thursday a few times
and I hit a one span for a 10-1 payout or $50.) There are even a few tables
that have electronic count of checks (you buy in and they put your money in
the computer. You bet by using a touch screen in front of each player. The
cards are then hand dealt by the dealer (out of a continuous shuffler) so
the cards are all face up on the table. Payment is then done again with the
computer. Saw a few of these games being played. Still like to have the
actual checks in my hand or stacked in front of me.
Even their BJ machines have the dealer standing on all 17s. Same pay tables
as the regular BJ tables.
Roulette was at $10 minimum tonight at 6:00 PM.
Pai Gow Poker was at $15 minimum and they deal just like Arizona tables in
that the dealer is position 7 and the player to the dealer's left is #1
unlike AC or LV the dealer is #1 and the player to the dealer's left is #7.
Max table payout is $25,000 but fortune payouts are the same as most in LV
at 2-1 for straight up to 8000 to 1 for 7 card natural straight flush.
Played 50 minutes and came out $109 up.
All of the carnival games didn't start tonight until 7 PM which is pretty
stupid as they had a lot of players waiting to get the games going. No
dealers however until 7 PM. They still have a lot of kinks to work out in
their system.
Couldn't get close enough to a craps table to see the odds. Every one was
packed tight with a lot of spectators.
As for Dover, was told tonight that they are supposed to soft open the
tables on June 21 with the regular opening about a week later. They have
most of the tables in but they are roped off. I went to the 4th floor where
they moved the BJ machines. They had 80 slot machines and 6 BJ machines in
what they call the Track View Slots area. Don't waste your time or money
going up there. The slots seemed to be tighter than what they have on the
ground floor and while it is quieter there, it is quieter there, if you know
what I mean.
Next on line is Charles Town WV. They state on their web page that they
will go live with table games on 2 July. From the Baltimore area it's an
equal distance to Charles Town and the Dover areas, the difference being a
toll on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to get to Delaware. I suggested to the
promotion staff at Harrington that they offer to refund the toll as a
promotion. They thought it was a great idea, and thought refunding it
doubled (a whopping $5) might be even better.

Talk about tight slots. Charles Town.... Ouch.
Yes, as I am from the Eastern Shore, I am 1 hour from Harrington, 1 1/2 to
Dover and 3 1/2 to AC. Most of my BJ gambling will be done during the
daytime with an occasional trip to the area in the evenings.
Another Ace* sock rear its ugly head.
Is it any wonder why it *SUCKS* to be A*?
1. Since DE gambling institutions are prohibited from giving free
(alcoholic) drinks, did they skirt that by having sufficiently cheap
drinks?
2. What's the law about free drinks in WV (Charles Town)? Anyone know?
I'm halfway between Baltimore and Frederick, so I'm waiting for
CharlesTown as it'll be a little closer. I hope I don't have to pack a
flask, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do...

Someone my correct me but the other day my wife and the person next to her
on the slot machines got free drinks at Dover Downs Casino so apparently
Delaware has rescinded the regulation at least at Dover Downs. I normally
don't drink alcoholic drinks when I gamble so I don't know about Harrington.
I think the restriction is because of the lack of hotel and Dover now has
the hotel on property. I'll ask wife when she gets home and ask if she got
any drinks at Harrington. If she did and they didn't cost, I'll post back.
