I recently got back from my 8th trip to Las Vegas, and as usual I had a
great time. Every trip we see many shows, usually 2 a night. Before this
trip I read about this "fantastic, sensational, ect" show called the Blue
Man Group. The positive reviews were overwhelming so my family and I decided
to go see it. The show starts and I thought the silouttes on the big screen
were neat and I thought the show was going to continue to be weird, but
entertaining. Then what came next had to be the worse 45 minutes I've ever
sat through in a Las Vegas show. The Blue man group beat on drums with paint
forever. It looked pretty and all for the first 30 seconds, but then they
went on and on with it. Then they poured more and more paint on the drums
and the crowd laughed hysterically. I failed to see the humor. In fact, it
was just stupid.

Then the next thing I remember is them eating Captain Crunch cereal for
about 10 minutes. All I could think of was that I paid 60 bucks to watch
these 3 assholes eat and crunch captain crunch. It was just plain stupid and
the crowd laughed hysterically. All I could think is that the poor people in
the audience have never seen a real comedian in Vegas.

Then here is the worse part, they brought some girl up on stage, had her sit
down at a table, and they ate twinkies and stared at each other. This was
beyond ridiculous. Then they started spitting the twinkies up and having
vomit spray out of their chest, then eating the spit up and vomit! It was an
insult to las vegas entertainment.

Then the last 20 minutes or so were ok with the special effects but the
tidal wave of tissue paper at the end served no purpose except to knock over
everyone's drinks out of the cup holders and make a mess. I failed to see
what was so impressive with the tissue paper.
The one thing I really liked was the way they made the spinning statues
dance, but that was about it.

Some of the other shows I saw on this trip were Footloose, which was
fantastic despite the bad reviews and I don't like broad way musicals for
the most part. I saw legends again which is always good, Chuck Berrry and
Little Richard were terriffic, Follies Bergere was classic Vegas, and Penn
and Teller were hilarious. Blue Man Group was the only bad thing about this
past Vegas trip. Don;t let them ruin your trip. The only way you could
appreciate the Blue Man group is if you are high on crack while you're at
the show.

Sophisticated? I could have watched my dog eat it's own puke and it would
have been the exact same thing as Blue Man group. If they pissed in a cup,
and drank it I guess that would have fit in with the sophistication of the
show. A chimpanzee could swallow a paint ball, and spit it on a canvas too.
Is that sophsticated too? It's really sad how easily entertained some
people are. I'll take Footloose, Jubilee, Danny Gans, Forever Plaid,
Legends, American Superstars, Penn and Teller, Tom Jones, Mystere, Sigfried
and Roy, ect over Blue Man Group any day. The people in those shows have
something called TALENT and that is something the Blue Men Group lack.

No crap, especially the ones who are street performers. Speaking of street
performers, I wish New York New York had the Madhattan show. That
(supposedly) featured street performers from New York City. That was a
really good show.

I think Kaufman's intentions were to piss off people and make them walk out
on him, but it seems that the Blue Men really think that they are funny.
Kaufman did have some funny stuff though, I like the wrestling stuff he did
with Jerry Lawler :-)

It wasn't that great. A number of the performers were 'ringers' too - one
female singer comes to mind that had performed in broadway musicals.

One guy, a singer named Roger Ridley, impressed me with his soulful
performance of an Otis Redding tune, among others. There were some
performers who were excellent, but overall, the show couldn't hold it's own
and was mercifully canned.

I can't say I'm into either of them. I don't go out of my way to go view

I know people who have very modern style homes, and they are neat looking

I see no similarities between Andy Kaufman and BMG. I loved BMG, but I have
never once laughed at anything AK ever did. I found AK quite annoying, and I
sure don't care to see a movie about him. But to each his own. Wouldn't it be

I realize what he was after with his "performance art" (what
a scam), but really now, how much talent does it take to
intentionally piss someone off?

I find it a bit funny that he was almost completely ignored
while he was alive (except for his 15 minutes on SNL and Taxi),
yet after Carrey's film is released he has now attained genius
status. Can you say "Chance the gardener"?

He was, at best, a crashing bore IMO.

"Some of us here at Saturday Night Live think Andy Kaufman's a comic
genius, others disagree." - Lorne Michaels.

I was a big fan of Andy long before the movie, and still think he was
amazing.

Notice how Mel Gibson didnt seem too impressed? It doesnt take a whole lot
of talent to do what they were doing. I really think Luxor paid off all
those critics and reviewers to say good things about Blue man group. With
reviews like it has, people will always go see it. Hell, those are the
reviews that got my family and I to go see it. I'll never trust reviews for
any show in Vegas again.
