This adorably pathetic cryptid is native to the Hemlock
forests of northern Pennsylvania. Reports of this
loose-skinned little creature began surfacing during the
late 19th century at the height of PA's timber industry. It
is one of the many creatures of lumberjack mythology.

The Squonk has loose-fitting, wart-covered skin, and it is
said to be ashamed of its appearance. Because of this, it
frequently hides from sight, and can dissolve into a pool of
tears and bubbles to evade capture. It can often be heard
crying in the woods. The first written account of a Squonk
came in a 1910 William J. Cox book on creatures of
lumberjack mythology. The Squonk's "official" Latin name is
Lacrimacorpus dissolvens.

This one probably wouldn't make a very good X-Files
episode...
