"They contradict an alternate theory, where gravity, not dark energy,
is the force pushing space apart. According to this alternate theory,
with which the new survey results are not consistent, Albert
Einstein's concept of gravity is wrong, and gravity becomes repulsive
instead of attractive when acting at great distances."

The data contradicts an alternative theory that says Albert Einstein's
concept of gravity was wrong. In other words, the data actually
supports Einstein's theory.

I see. Thanks.

You have misinterpreted the article. Dark energy does not contradict
Einstein's gravity theory.

Didn't Einstein say that space pushes (gravity) on mass? Mass doesn't
attract? Seems I read that somewhere. Science has a tough time giving up
on the Newtonian POV. Did Einstein say that space was like a stretched
sheet of latex?

Other oddities:

If all matter in space is moving away from each other then why is the Milky
Way on a collision course with the Andromeda Galaxy?

Why does the Universe have to be infinite?

Only Einstein's theory explains black holes, gravitational lensing or
the orbit of Mercury.

General relativity states that gravity is indistinguishable from the
force you feel going upwards in an elevator. Really. In that case
there is no real force pushing you down, just your own inertia. This
neatly explains why gravitational mass and inertial mass are the same.
