I wrote a couple of months ago that Marlena would be pregnant.I also said
Kate would be too.their is still a chance that I am right about both of them
being pregnant.

Alice is pregnant with twins. Although they haven't shown it, she is
over there in Euraqistan also. The twins have different fathers. She has
had a threesome with Osama and Saddam.

Allow me to delurk. I've been reading the group off and on for years,
but I've never felt the need to post before.

I only watch Days once in a while anymore, as it's gotten so
ridiculous. But today, for the show to end with Marlena realizing
she's pregnant by Roman... THE WOMAN IS 58 YEARS OLD! DOESN'T
ANYONE HIT MENOPAUSE ON THAT SHOW? DOES THIS MORON HEAD
WRITER REALLY THINK WE'RE ALL THIS STUPID?

Sorry for screaming, but I couldn't help myself. I swear, while this
show continues to insult my intelligence, this has to be the biggest
insult so far. Why do I even watch even 5 minutes of this drivel
anymore? What is wrong with me that I continue to hope against hope
that imbecile will write something that won't offend viewers? Does
NBC want to be rid of what's left of its soap schedule?

I still think this is a Deidre Hall "I don't want to age" issue, I
noticed on today's episode (Thursday - we got it at 10am here due to
golf) that she's getting blonder and blonder again and wardrobe seems
to putting her in the youthful trendy stuff - the gold sequin scarf.

While women can get pregnant when in menopause, I've read about it
happening, this is an idiotic plot point since they don't seem to be
using the menopause as a story line. My feeling is this will be Kate
and Marlena preggers with Roman/John dueling to see who's yer daddy
again. and again. and again.

2 years from now if NBC hasn't come to their senses and canned this
crapola we'll have another oooohh it's a diMera baby because DrOOL
hasn't created another villain in ages. Not since Carly was buried
alive - I still miss Ivan, Eugene and Calliope as well as Ivan's
partner in crime (forgot her name) where did the humor go? Where did
the suspense go? I'm not expecting David Mamet level writing nor Mel
Brooks level of comedy but really now this "stuff" on my TV isn't
making me want to TiVo or tune in regularly. I just caught today's
episode because of the time change and when I turned on my TV it was
already on channel 4.

BTW, welcome to the group, happy de-lurking!

I can only tell you what I know; I worked in the Medical Library at an
Ob-Gyn hospital for a number of years...

Menopause is not like clockwork. It doesn't happen at the same age
for every woman and it doesn't happen *all at once*

Many modern treatments ( I have several lady friends who agree)
include a gradual hormone level decrease through various medications.

It's basically similar to birth control medications, ie; it keeps an
egg from being fertilized by controlling estrogen and other female
hormone levels.

Marlena may indeed been on such medication prior to her ending up at
the hospital, but

duh! how would she get a refill.

So Marlena was probably off any such medications (fairly routine,
probably most American women of a certain income/education take these
once the signs show M.pause is on the way)

and therefore it is possible she could get pregant, though not likely.

But this is a soap opera, that's what happens.

Oy, let me tell you about it! <g> I've been having mild hot flashes for
10 years that got worse last year. I haven't ovulated in about 5 years
or so, but I still mentruate, though that's slowed down to once every
three months or so. That's when it doesn't show up four weeks after the
last one for a couple months, then skips four, then.....

Yep. This one seems to be about creating conflicts all over the place,
but doesn't resolve them very well....

I was thinking about that yesterday when Marlena confirmed her pregnancy.
She started on DOOL in 1976. That was 29 years ago. Wasn't she already an
adult and a doctor by then, unless she was a child prodigy in disguise? I
guess they are doing the age-reverse thing now. After all, they
age-accelerate the children on this show. I started watching in '91 (off and
on, though). Brady was born in '92 and he is only 13? Belle is, what, 12?
And Philip is 10 and he already graduated HS, is a Marine, married, and has
had his leg blown off. What a busy 'boy' he is! I wouldn't be surprised
that they make Marlene seem a lot younger than she is in this bizarre time
warp they created.

Still, I watch it for comedy relief.

So that's what it was. I saw 15 seconds of the show today, and Phillip tells
Belle "Are you sure it's because he's a whole man and i'm not?" or something
like that. That's when I knew that my prediction had come true: that Belle
won't tell Phillip she's leaving him because he'll come back wounded. I
figured he was paralyzed or something. I further predict that he'll find out
she intends to leave him once he's mobile, so he'll begin prolonging his
injury, claiming new problems such as loose bowel syndrome, incontinence,
and paralysis. Belle will feel guilty for wanting to leave a man with
chronic flatulence, and be forced to stay by his side, not knowing that he's
faking it all along.

-------------------------------------
Icebreaker
"Tom pays Jessica to 'Keep Katie on the path,'" reports a Lowdown spy. "She
goes everywhere with Katie - she's never more than a quarter-step behind
her. When you ask her who she is, she says, 'I'm Katie's best friend.' She's
known her for six weeks!"

Didn't Shawn compose an e-mail to Philip explaining that Belle wanted to be
with him instead? I think that Jan sent it, though, without anyone else
knowing? Perhaps Philip will finally see that e-mail and find out what
Belle has been keeping from him all along.

"Rage Against the Ice Machine" reminds me of the time my husband and I
stayed at a motel and all the ice machines were either out of ice or broken.
Boy, did we rage! LOL

Yabbut... the writers have probably forgotten about it by now, and will
ignore it.

Think people. Everyone back has gotten sick. Jack, Abe, and now
Marlena. She is not really "pregnant" pregnant, it will be a
manufactured something pregnant thingy. Ya have a few more comebackers
yet to get sick with something. Oh by the way, Caroline and VIctor are
in the Dimera mansion, actually in Salem already. Noone knows it yet!

That would totally suck sheep's brains! I've been waiting for that little
treasure to make its way to Philips desktop forever. Of course, I've also
been waiting for Sami to yank out that doll she has stuffed with everything
about Kate's past, and that never happened. Unless I missed something.

If we put our heads together here, I'm sure we could come up with a
hundred little dropped storylines thanks to Reilly. Sorry to say that
if he doesn't remind the viewers about it with every show, either
through conversations or flashbacks, you can be pretty certain that he
has no intention of ever bringing it up again.

It would honestly be quite hard to know if Philip was faking something, so I
can't really blame Belle, can you? Kyle Brandt is such a piss poor
slack-ster (That's Spanglie Slang for a rotten actor who was never trained
or interested in drama to begin with; one that is just cashing in on his
looks and has not a shred of talent) that you can't tell when Phillie is
being genuine or being false. His Neutrogena Self Tanner line around his
neck and his cavernous lack of acting skills have caused me to think that
the Daytime Emmy Awards need to create a new category:

Most Zombified Male Lead Actor

Brandt would win it hands down. He's like a Hollywood duplicate of King Tut
he's so darned glowing and zombified.
