Hello,

Here is a rather interesting child murder case coming to you from way over in
South Africa. We have ourselves a 21 year old salesman named Rashaad Soomar.
Guess what type of a salesman Rashaad was? Yup, he sold LOLLIPOS and candy and
other sweets. What an IDEAL profession for a child molestor and pedophile to
have!

So 21 year old Rashaad decided to use his lollipop salesman skills to good
advantage. He drove up to a 6 year old girl named Lallache and waved some
lollipops and chocalates at her. The 6 year old, having a sweet tooth andnot
having been taught properly to RUN like hell if a a man in a car offers you
lollipops, decided to take some of the sweets. Rashaad then pulled her into his
car and drove off. She was seen sitting in Rashaad's car, sucking on a
lollipop. That was the LAST time that she was seen alive.

Once he had the 6 year old in his car, Rashaad proceeded to TELL her all
about his MARITAL problems, and asked her for ADVICE. When the 6 year old could
not provide any brilliant insights into marriage, Rashaad became angry and
frustrated. He sexually abused her with his finger, then covered her mouth to
keep her from crying out. Pretty soon he noticed that she had gone limp, and
panicked that he had accidently killed her, he threw her panties out the car
window, dragged her behind a bush, and left her for dead. When the body was
found, 6 year old Lallache had secen chocolate eclairs AND a lollipop, stuffed
into thje pockets of her school uniform. Unfortunately she was DEAD, and so had
no opportunity to savor those Tasty Treats. She did indeed die of suffocation,
as our horny lollipop salesman covered her mouth and nose a little too
forcefully.

If you would like to view a photo of a SMILING Rashaad, being led into court,
and another photo showing the bereaved parents of the 6 year old, just point

In court a few days ago, Rashaad was found guilty of kidnapping, rape, and
murder. He apparently tried to explain to the court that he only committed the
crimes after becoming frustrated because the 6 year old was not providing any
helpful verbal advice to his tale of marital woe. But the judge rejected that
explanation, and said: "This stretches the imagination to a wholly unacceptable
level - it is inconceivable that a six-year-old would have responded
meaningfully. She would not have been capable of understanding." Good point.

We learn that in previous court appearances, Rashaad had turned to face the
parents of the 6 year old, and SMILED at them! Ya gotta admire the
self-confidence that a murderer has, when he smiles at the family of his murder
victim. But in court to hear the verdict, Rashaad was much more subdued.
Sentencing will take place very soon, and today, Rashaad was once again in
court, trying to convince the judge that there were mitigating factors and that
he shouldn't receive a harsh sentence. I'm pretty sure that there is NO death
penalty law in South Africa, luckily. But Rashaad is a VERY young man of only
21, he no doubt is hoping to receive parole eligibility. In all likelihood
though, he'll have to serve at least 20 years in the slammer, maybe a LOT more.

Take care, JOE

Killer used lollipop to lure girl to death

Sweet salesman kidnapped and raped child

ANDRE JURGENS

SMILING sweets salesman Rashaad Soomar used lollipops and chocolates to lure a
pretty six-year-old child into his car.

Port Elizabeth schoolgirl Lallache Karelse was never seen alive again.

There were seven chocolate eclairs and a lollipop in her green and white school
uniform pockets when her body was found.

Soomar, 21, sat trembling in the Port Elizabeth High Court on Wednesday when he
was convicted of kidnapping, raping and murdering the child on July 22 last
year.

There were shouts of elation from a packed public gallery when Judge Frank
Kroon said the bearded young man had lied to the court about what happened to
the child. But a shattered Ebrahim Soomar, the killer's father and respected
businessman from the upmarket suburb of Malabar, wept.

Soomar had been employed by his father, owner of Spring Products, as a sweets
sales representative.

When the child's terrified last moments were described during the court
judgment, her parents, Vernon and Laurine Karelse wept uncontrollably.

Lallache was last seen alive sucking a lollipop in Soomar's car just 150m away
from her home in Uitenhage. She had just finished classes at C W Hendrickse
Primary School and was walking to a shop when he lured her into the vehicle.

Explaining why he pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and rape, Soomar told
the court he asked the girl for directions.

Then, while driving, he spoke to her about his marriage problems but "got
frustrated" when she could not answer his questions, he said.

He claimed to have indecently assaulted her with his finger and panicked when
she went limp after he covered her mouth to stop her screaming. He said he
threw her panties out the car window and dragged her body under a bush.

Judge Kroon said medical evidence showed the child's genitalia were injured by
what could only have been rape.

He said she must have experienced terrible pain while being raped.

Soomar had killed the girl by blocking her nose and mouth.

The judge rejected Soomar's claims of being frustrated with the child's lack of
responsiveness to his problems, saying: "This stretches the imagination to a
wholly unacceptable level - it is inconceivable that a six-year-old would have
responded meaningfully. She would not have been capable of understanding."

Lallache's aunt, Mabel Coltman, fainted and had to be carried from the court
when the guilty verdict was read out.

Sobbing in the corridor, "My child, oh God, my child."

Afterwards, Laurine Karelse said: "We cannot accept that our daughter is gone,
but justice has been done."

Soomar outraged the girl's parents by grinning at them when he first appeared
in court last year.

Later in the trial, he refused to look at them and sat cradling his head in his
hands.

The brutal murder outraged Port Elizabeth's Muslim community and erupted in
angry protests on the city streets against child abuse when Soomar led police
to her body - hidden under bushes on a vacant plot of land near Despatch -
just hours after the murder.

President Nelson Mandela telephoned the dead girl's parents to express his
sympathy when her body was found.

The court will hear evidence in mitigation of sentence on Tuesday.

He received a 26 year sentence. South Africa has no death penalty. There are a couple of brief stories about him on the WWW telling how he is taking all the rehabilitation courses in prison. They mention he is a convicted murderer but don't mention that he killed a six year old girl after raping her.
