FAYETTEVILLE -- Police investigating the disappearance of 5-year-old Shaniya
Davis found explicit pictures of a child on a phone belonging to the suspect
in the child's murder, according to unsealed court documents.
Mario Andrette McNeil's phone was seized by police after his arrest Nov. 19,
the warrants say. The Fayetteville man is charged with kidnapping, raping
and murdering Shaniya.
Search warrants in the case were unsealed this week by a Cumberland County
Superior Court judge. According to an affidavit attached to one warrant,
Detective Jason Sondergaard "observed photographs of a sexually explicit
nature, and some of the photographs appeared to be that of a female juvenile
under 10 years of age."

Cumberland County's Senior Resident Superior Judge E. Lynn Johnson ordered
to unseal nine search warrants concerning this case on Monday. The
Fayetteville police kept the warrant information under wraps, but as of
Monday the news of a young black girl's sexually explicit picture on Mario
McNeill's phone has been made public.
Who is the girl? No one truly knows except for speculation that it is
Shaniya Davis. For the sake of the investigation and the knowledge of the
approximate age the photo will not be released for public view nor should it
be at this time.
The latest Fayetteville news surrounding the Shaniya Davis case also adds
information offered by her older brother. Shaniya Davis' 7-year-old brother
had been questioned by investigators. The child told detectives inside of
their home he seen a black man with dreadlocks, but soon after he heard
"stomping noises" according to the affidavit.
From phones, computers to a GPS system Fayetteville police left nothing
behind when it comes to this investigation. All by which will lead to more
of a solid case against Mario McNeill and Antoinette Davis.
Mario McNeill was not the only focus on this case. Antoinette Davis, 25,
has also been charged with human trafficking, felony child abuse involving
prostitution, interfering with an investigation and filing a false police
report. Antoinette Davis' next court date is scheduled for February 18,
2010 at the Cumberland County Courthouse. Mario McNeill was scheduled for a
court appearance yesterday which most likely surfaced another upcoming court
date without further developments.
Mario McNeill is located in Raleigh's Central Prison and Antoinette Davis is
located in North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women, just 2.44
miles away from each other.
According to the Medical Examiner notes, and other reliable sources,
Antoinette Davis was paying back a debt owed to Mario McNeill by trading
Shaniya Davis as an exchange.

Warrants: Explicit photos found on murder suspect's phone

Fayetteville, N.C. - Sexually explicit photos of a young girl were found on
a cell phone belonging to a man charged with kidnapping, raping and killing
a 5-year-old Fayetteville girl in November, according to search warrants.

The search warrants, which were unsealed this week, show that Fayetteville
police detective Jason Sondergaard found sexually explicit photos on
McNeill's Virgin Mobile cell phone, including some that depicted a young
girl. Sondergaard consulted with physician who specializes in forensic
pediatrics to try to determine the age of the girl in the photos, but she
could only confirm that the photos were of a young black girl.

Security video from a Sanford motel taken shortly after Shaniya's
disappearance showed McNeill with her. Investigators said in the search
warrants that the pair was at the motel for about 90 minutes.
Shaniya's 7-year-old brother also told investigators that a man with
dreadlocks whom he didn't recognize was in the family's home the night
before Shaniya was abducted, according to the warrants. McNeill had
dreadlocks at the time of his arrest.

An autopsy determined Shaniya died of asphyxiation and that injuries she
suffered were consistent with a sexual assault. The autopsy report noted she
was wearing only an adult-sized black sweatshirt and panties when her body
was found.
Shaniya's mother, Antoinette Nicole Davis, 25, has been charged with human
trafficking, felony child abuse-prostitution, filing a false police report
and obstructing a police investigation. Arrest warrants state that Davis
"did knowingly provide Shaniya with the intent that she be held in sexual
servitude" and "did permit an act of prostitution with Shaniya."
