Just got it on release date at FYE in my hometown. I had high expectations, but over all, I don't see what these songs really has to do with Transformers. Seems like really just a bunch of 90's-ish grunge music, with maybe 1-3 of the tracks having small TF-to-do-with lyrics. The songs themselves very from ok to good.

Anyone else get this and have thoughts?

Also: Asked about the G1 Robert J. Walsh CD at FYE; they said they haven't heard anything yet, but they also said that about Roll Out some months back when it was first said to be coming to FYE.

It's interesting that Hasbro is trying to capitalize on the musical aspects of their movie franchise. It's also kind of weird because it's like a movie soundtrack without a movie.

If these are all original compositions I hope it's an indication that TF movies going forward will have more custom tailored rock soundtracks like the 86 movie. My impression of previous non-score CDs from the TF movies was that they were all a bunch of previously existing music tracks from various artists sort of randomly strung together to make another generic action movie soundtrack.

I don't think Bay Transformers has ever had that one iconic song like 'The Touch' or that song Vanilla Ice did for TMNT that really reminds you of seeing the movie every time you hear it. Maybe this is the first step toward something like that. Maybe Bush is the next Stan Bush.

Heck, maybe the young lady they recently announced as being the lead in TF5 is going to be Bay's version of Minmay and she'll sing the Autobots to victory and we'll all buy the soundtrack for her songs. I don't know that the music in Transformers movies will ever be as integral to the story as it is to franchises like Macross, but it is cool to see Hasbro trying.
