ATT,

I was watching TFTM with my kids last night, and I noticed a couple things that I have never really given consideration to before. Perhaps the most shocking was a conspiracy theory I'd like to propose at the end of the movie. Let me preface this by stating that I am quite certain I am not the first person to pose this question.
At the end of the movie, Galvatron wanted to partner with Hot Rod to destroy Unicron with the Matrix. That is, until Unicron tortured him with his mystical remote power. Isn't it very possible that Galvatron let Hot Rod, who was substantially weaker than the mighty Galvatron, escape his grips, grab the matrix and then unleash the power of the matrix to destroy Unicron? He likely had no idea the matrix would turn Hot Rod into a new more powerful Autobot Leader (it did nothing to Ultra Magnus). Granted, he did get tossed out of Unicron's body into space (and ultimately into lava that permanently damaged him), but he also gained his freedom. It's quite the alternative to living the rest of his life as a slave to a monster robot who wanted to destroy him. Not to mention, when all of this was going on, Unicron was quite pre-occupied fighting for his life (Galvatron had no idea this was going on).
Thoughts?

Possible. But, Galvatron had just gotten through telling Hot Rod that the Matrix was worthless, because Galvatron had tried to open it and couldn't. I don't think he was aware that Hot Rod was the Chosen One, and I definitely don't think he knew Hot Rod had the ability to access the Matrix at all.

Also, I just want to say that the sound effect that we heard whenever Unicron tortured Galvatron sounded an awful lot like the feedback you got from the Transformers Voice Changer role-play toy, when the microphone was too close to the speaker.

Most conspiracy theories require you to squint when looking at the facts. So hear me out. Galvatron knew that by opening the Matrix, it would destroy Unicron. His previous attempt to open it failed, which Galvatron told hot rod as you pointed out. However, Hot Rod immediately retorted that it "cannot be opened by a Decepticon". Perhaps Galvatron suspected he had some deeper knowledge of how to use the matrix?

But if the Matrix were useless, then why would Galvatron hold on to it at all? Is it just because Unicron feared it? When he couldn't open and he assumed it was useless without a Prime to operate it, why wasn't it discarded like so much space debris?

What if Hot Rod weren't the "chosen one" by fate, but by pure luck of noticing the finger-holes? What if Galvatron had noticed the finger-holes and opened the Matrix? Would it have defeated Unicron, or would Unicron's interface with Galvatron allowed Unicron a beneficial interaction with The Matrix? Would Galvatron be changed by The Matrix or would The Matrix change Galvatron?

I used to have that voice changer, I might still have it.
