I wonder what it would take to get Tucker Barnhart from the Reds.

A 27 year old catcher who is hitting and making almost nothing?

Yeah, good luck with that.

All the more reason. Face it, if he were signed for a few more years,
it's a trade the Mets would never make. For the Reds, they get an ace
who they get first shot a signing long term.

He doesn't hit that much but he is a great defender. How about Familia
and Robles and Nito

From the Mets perspective, sounds good. Why the Reds would want
Familia is beyond me.

They wouldn't be interested in a 28YO pither with a 149 ERA+ who seems
to be healthy?

I'm not a fan of Familia. He's the A-Rod of relief pitchers; great
numbers but you can't count on him in the clutch. (witness the 2015 ws
and the 2016 playoff). Is it worth it for a last place team to pay
about 8 million for a relief pitcher?

most relievers choke in the playoffs. Should we start listing them
beginning with Armondo Benitez and Trevor Hoffman.

So better even to trade him for a catcher.

BTW - Palwauki is now gone, expect 3 weeks. they say 10 days, but bones
don't heal that fast.

They said Gehrig had a dozen broken bones in his catching hand when he died.

That's really interesting. Of course, he wasn't a catcher. I think people are freaking out.

Yes, this is Murphy's law.

Plawecki is a perfectly adequate catcher, much improved from last year. We can figure he'll be out a month. I wonder what kind of prosthetics they have for catchers that might help?

Nido can hold the fort. Someone like Rivera may show up on waivers.

I would not break up the relievers, Familiar has been great.

d'Arnold is done with the Mets. He never had much of an arm. He does have
power and can hit. He belongs in the AL where he can DH.
