Seriously, how stupid is the Terry Collins brain trust?

How many times do you need to be told that the manager doesn't make
personnel decisions? And it's not like the rest of MLB immediately
recognized his talent and fought to get him. He wasn't the Nats first
choice, and he didn't have many other offers.

The Nolan Ryan trade was terrible, too.

Manager: He is the one who puts the lineup on the field, so the GM must make sure he is consulted when the GM is going to make a roster change. The GM and field manager always want to be on the same page.

They made him a qualifying offer. In retrospect, Murphy is the one who
made the mistake. His contract with the Nationals is only for $12.5m per
year. If he'd taken the QO for $15.8m and played the way he has for the
Nats, he would have gotten a much richer multi-year deal after the 2016
season. The only good thing for him is that it was only 3 years, so if
he keeps playing the way he has, he's going to clean up after next season.

And the manager may be consulted on moves, but it's the GM that makes
the decision. Especially during the off-season. It's ridiculous to
blame Terry for not re-signing him.

Gil Hodges was the Mets manager in 1971 when Nolan Ryan was traded. Do
you blame him for that trade?

I think he was the one that pushed for it,
