Hi folks, I've just recently bought myself a Honda FC50, also known as
"Beat". I've searched high and low over the internet, but I still
can't find out any information about this scooter. Are they rare or
something? My first impressions are, it's a great little scooter from
1987, with electric start (I still can't start it right. It seems
when it's cold, press the start button, but once the engine is warm,
hold hte throttle down a little, then press start. But I always
manage to flood it:-( And then the battery goes flat:-( Oh well, one
day I'll learn).

It's a nifty little two-stroke engine, says "VTACS" or something along
the side, and has powerband at around 6000rpm. To be honest though,
it chews through gas! Man, the tank must only last about 2 hours or
so at 50km/h riding. I'll have to try it out some day to be sure.

Anyway, it's liquid cooled, with a little radiator in front of the
stearing column. But of lately, I've noticed that the scooter is
leaking green coolent. From where I'm guessing, it's leaking at the
seal between the coolent hose from the coolent tank, and the place
where it goes into the engine. It doesn't leak much, but leaks enough
to be annoying in summer. After all, coolent is $15US a liter here
(in New Zealand).

So I'd like to fix this up, but how? Does anyone know about this
scooter? Or does it seem like I'm the only person in the world to own
this scooter model, or at least talk about it on the internet:-)
