L. Ron Hubbard wasnt Perfect

http://freedomofimagination.wordpress.com/2009/09/22/l-ron-hubbard-wasnt-perfect/

The applied religious philosophy of Scientology is not built upon L.
Ron Hubbards background or character.

Scientology is a technology. In no way is the workability of the
technology or the accuracy of the data needed to use the technology a
reflection of L. Ron Hubbard. If it had been, Scientology would be
nothing more than a collection of ideas imagined by L. Ron Hubbard
that he then insisted must be true. That would be delusion. Instead,
anyone can apply the technology and see its workability for himself or
herself. The workability isnt based on blind faith or gullibility.

When Prometheus stole fire from the gods and delivered it to the
people, did they stop to question his background before accepting the
new technology? Did the so-called critics of Prometheus sit in the
dark because they were certain he was a bad man?

Yes, Prometheus is from Greek mythology (another word for ancient
entertainment media). The same logic could be applied to any scientist
who invented something useful. If Thomas Edison had been a bad man
in his life, would people refuse to use electric light in protest of
his background and character?

L. Ron Hubbard was not a bad man but he also wasnt a perfect man.
Good! If he had been a perfect man, then he would have been too
perfect for me or you. Had he been too perfect, he would be far off
and beyond our reach. Instead, L. Ron Hubbard was an ordinary man who
could and still does communicate to people on a level most can
understand.

L. Ron Hubbard didnt fill his lectures with academic language that
only professors of English would appreciate. On the contrary, he tells
jokes and uses funny voices and sound effects. L. Ron Hubbard was an
ordinary man who traced a route that ordinary people could follow. L.
Ron Hubbard developed a technology that ordinary people could study
and use for their own personal betterment and the betterment of those
around them.

The alt.slack posters bring a moderate viewpoint to help dilute the
otherwise extremist fanaticism against Scientology from many of the
ars regulars.

Works out similarly to how you invited Gregory Hall from
alt.usenet.kooks to post regularly here. He might not know too much
about Scientology, but at least he isn't irrationally opposed to it.

I didn't invite Greg to post here. He came over here on his own. But I
posted that he has a right to post here as anybody else.
And I still think that. I sure hoped he would take some classes in how

Am I the only one here who notices this--but isn't Babs exactly like
Ruth "Uriel" Norman if Uriel was an old drunk who lived in a trailer
park and dyed her grey hair india-ink-black instead of pink and smoked
four packs of Kools a day on top of the raging meth habit and lotto
addiction? You know the type, a housecoated horror who'd hang off the
cinderblock "porch" of her trailer to vomit copiously, then lurch
inside and crack open another beer? A stringy, hard, leathery
alcoholic who would disingenuously pretend not to notice how she
jacked off her chihuahua with her elbow while giving him noogies?

Exactly like that.

Creepy, huh?

I think they're on to something. L. Ron Hubbard was merely the front
man. The real power was a little-known individual named J. Edgar Cayce,
of Fort Davis, Texas. He "accidentally" invented the Church of
Scientology in 1949 when he made a cold solder joint while building a
Heathkit oscilloscope. This circuit flaw later became the electronic
foundation for his A, B, C, and D-meters. Unfortunately, these models
had a 50% mortality factor, so the E-meter was outsourced to a trusted
third party manufacturer.

The name of that manufacturer? You guessed it: Dobbskit Industries,
Malaysia. E-meter fatalities fell to 25% and that was enough to get the
Church of Scientology out of financial trouble. The rest, is LIES. ALL LIES!

I've enjoyed this little excursion into history and hope it distracts us
from the memory of "Perfect," a movie that sucked harder than the
supermassive black hole that lurks at the center of our galaxy.

How about some "private lessons?" He hee!

But, seriously, the trouble is, aside from yourself, I don't know any

Would you have me treat like a lady the likes of Claire, Tigger, Barbz,

Gregory's history of treading on women is too widely known for any

No it isn't. It's a grab-bag of pseudo-science and mumbo-jumbo.

For it to be a technology, it would need to be an application of some
form of science. But it isn't. I'm not even saying that the
underlying science doesn't hold up, it doesn't exist. Nowhere does
anybody even try to describe what the underlying science is. It's
just believed with religious faith that it is perfect.

And nobody could describe the "underlying science" of Scientology
because it's pretty clearly established that most of it comes from
"visions" and "intuitions" of Hubbard's. I mean just dig around, you
can find the original hand-written screeds where he "realizes" the
different auditing "rundowns" and so on. They appear whole cloth,
there isn't even the vaguest indication that Hubbard is working from
some underlying body of theory.

If Hubbard doesn't know where it comes from, nobody does. There is
just this vague belief that he is plugged into some vast mysterious
alien intelligence.

Face it. If you want to believe that Hubbard was plugged into some
vast mysterious alien intelligence, fine, you're fairly gullible, go
ahead. But science that ain't.

>> In no way is the workability of the

So if "the technology" didn't work for the very guy who invented it,
you don't think that might be an indication that it doesn't work at
all?

If it's truly a "technology", as opposed to some vague grab bag of
supposed self-improvement techniques, then it should work regardless
of who is using it. If its results are inconsistent, then it isn't "a
technology" at all.

It's like if I went around saying I'd invented cold fusion. BUT, I
can't make it work. But the fact that I can't make it work doesn't
invalidate my "technology".

That makes no sense.

If you expect an answer from Barbara you need to stop being so primitive.

Being primitive is a sign of low intelligence. Hmmmm, perhaps you have no
CHOICE but being primitive. Never mind!

It's not about getting into anybody's panties. It's about trying to lend a
well-meaning hand to somebody who is all alone and trying to fight a battle
beyond her means. It's about trying to convince her to not be so extreme
herself. It's about trying to save her soul from eternal damnation. (She's
rejected God and Jesus and is lost unless she changes her mind and repents.)
It's about being on the right side as anti-Scientology extremists are
nothing more than anti-religion extremists and, as such, they are diseased
individuals who need to be pushed back into the slime pit out of which they
crawled.

You forget the Holy Ghost up there in all that, Gregory Hall.

Though it was originally spelled WOOLY GHOST, but all those lame-ass
translations what purposely put so much whacked-out pure-d bullshit
crap in the bible to subjugate the masses even further done
fucked-it-all-up.

WOOLY GHOST Will Smite You Mightily for that transgression,
Bre'r Hall.

Yeah that sounds like a well-thought-out plan.
