The Internet Archive, a site that preserves snapshots of old Web pages
and bills itself as "a library of Internet sites and other cultural
artifacts in digital form," no longer contains links to archival pages
of Xenu.net. Instead, surfers are pointed to a page telling them the
site was taken down "per the request of the site owner."
However, Xenu.net operator Andreas Heldal-Lund said he never made any
such request. Heldal-Lund, a Norwegian businessman and longtime church
critic, said he's eager for people to read archived pages of his site.

If you were going to choose a leader for the Church of Scientology, how
would you go about it?
1. Well, first, you'd probably do some research and see if LRH ever
designated anyone as his successor. Given that this person's other
qualifications were in place, they would probably be a top candidate.
2. You'd want someone who is technically trained, ideally a Class XII
C/S. You'd want someone who has done a lot of auditing and C/Sing and
has a good record of technical results. If they are going to make
decisions that affect training and processing, you'd want them to know
what they are talking about.

Biggi Reichert: What happened to her before her 2006 suicide? When I
talked to Marty Rathbun after his return from Germany recently, he
mentioned that one of the things he and Ursula Caberta hoped would come
from their new friendship was cooperation on a mysterious death
involving a German Scientologist.
Today, Rathbun held up his end of that bargain, going public with what
he knows in the apparent suicide of a woman named Biggi Reichert, and
asking for the public's help in solving some strange unanswered
questions in her death.
Rathbun had told me that Caberta, a German government official who has
been working since 1992 to curb Scientology's influence there,
considers this a very troubling and potentially damaging situation for
the church.

Last night, on Dancing With The Stars, Leah Remini was heard telling
her dance partner, Tony Dovolani, that Scientology, which she left this
summer, wants her to fail on the program so its members would think
that's what happens to anyone who leaves. "You're used to taking a lot
of negativity on yourself," she said about being a part of Scientology.
We wanted to ask another actor who left the church recently what he
thought about her words. We spoke to Jason Beghe last night and asked
him, was Leah Remini correct to say that Scientology wants her to fail?
Beghe left Scientology in 2008 in a very public way, recording a
YouTube video denouncing the church. Since then, the veteran film and
television actor's career has taken off with recurring roles in
Californication and Chicago Fire, and now he's filming episodes for his
own spinoff series, Chicago PD. But in spite of that success, he's
dealt with severe harassment from Scientology since he left, and he
told us there was no question that Remini was right about what she said
on television last night.

TORONTO ? Rob Ford wasn't there in person, but the controversial
Toronto mayor's presence loomed large Tuesday night as his older
brother firmly took his place in the city's mayoral race.
A rowdy crowd served up loud opposing cheers and jeers as Doug Ford
faced off against his main rivals with many of the same promises
offered by his famous brother.
The siblings switched spots in the municipal competition earlier this
month after it was announced that Rob Ford had an abdominal tumour
which was later diagnosed as a rare and aggressive form of cancer. The
mayor was released from hospital on Tuesday afternoon after undergoing
his first round of chemotherapy.

Mayoral candidate Doug Ford denounced on Wednesday instances of racist
and homophobic comments by his supporters, saying that he doesn't want

One episode involved political rival Olivia Chow, and a man who
screamed at her to "go home? back to China" and that "she's Chinese!
She's not Canadian!" during Tuesday's raucous debate in Weston. That
same day, Kristyn Wong-Tam, council's only openly gay member, tweeted
the photo of a letter sent to her by someone who identified as a Ford
Nation supporter. The letter was entitled "let's kick the fa?ots out of
city hall" and told Ms. Wong-Tam that "I hope you get AIDS and die in
public office."
During a press conference at his campaign headquarters in Etobicoke, Mr.
Ford condemned both episodes.

for a hearing before the Texas Third Court of Appeals.
In July, the same court overturned a lower court order that would have
allowed Monique to depose Scientology leader David Miscavige in her
harassment suit against the church. But that was for a jurisdictional
question in a preliminary matter. This time, however, the entire ball
of wax is on the line.

Leah Remini book out Nov. 3: 'Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and
Scientology'

Ballantine Books announced today what we've known for some time: Leah
Remini's memoir is finished and coming out soon. Titled Troublemaker:
Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, the book is scheduled to be
released on November 3, and we expect there to be a tidal wave of
publicity over it.
Since her very public defection from Scientology (a story broken here
at the Underground Bunker in July 2013), Leah has worked hard to raise
her profile, appearing on ABC's Dancing with the Stars and then in her
own reality series, It's All Relative. Along the way, she's talked
about leaving Scientology, but in largely vague terms.
What she hasn't said, but has held back for her book, are the really
amazing details about her long process of disaffection from Scientology
that we first detailed here at the Bunker. They include a spectacular
scene in 2006 at the wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes in a castle
outside Rome, which included Leah daring to ask why Scientology's
leader, David Miscavige, was there without his wife, Shelly.

We don't know if this is a record, but it sure impresses the heck out
of us.
Back in 2011, we wrote a story about someone Scientology had tracked
down after they left the organization 40 years earlier. The man had
moved ten times since then, and across the country, but Scientology
tracked him down and called him on his mobile phone to send him a DVD
and try to get him to come back to the church.
We're sure you've seen plenty of other examples of this that pop up
from time to time on social media. Scientology sends some of the most
ridiculous letters to people who may have simply bought a copy of
Dianetics 15 years earlier.

If you are interested in the early years of scientology in Australia
and St Hill and the Sea Org, this is THE definitive work. And it is
just Part One.
It is truly encyclopedic in its detail of times, places and people and
contains remarkable photos never seen before. Janis has a memory that
would shame an elephant. I have long wondered how anyone could recall
so many names, people and events so clearly and accurately.

Rod Keller brings us up to date on Scientology's response to various
natural disasters around the world this past month...
The Scientology Volunteer Minister program claims to be "one of the
largest independent relief organizations in the world." They are not
that. They are poorly organized and depend on donations to get through
each day of a relief mission. They depend on untrained volunteers to
re-invent relief procedures for each emergency. The purpose is to show
that Scientology is a real religion, but the help that reaches people
in emergency conditions is fairly minimal.
When you donate to the American Red Cross or a similar organization for
hurricane or earthquake relief, your money will probably be spent for
the next emergency and not the current one. Large relief organizations
pre-position supplies. The Red Cross has manufactured large supplies of
blankets and clothing ahead of an emergency, and donations serve mainly
to replenish their reserves. This is good planning and prevents
spending to sort out, transport and store donated items. They don't
want you to bring them a case of bottled water. They want you to donate
money and they can buy water in a more efficient way. The Volunteer
Ministers, or VMs work differently. They spent the first few days of
the Hurricane Harvey crisis in Houston, Texas assembling cleaning
products into kits for distribution.

Our man in Hungary, P?ter Bonyai, has a special piece for us today
that, sadly, fits in with a history of similar remembrances here at the
Underground Bunker, where we memorialize Church of Scientology figures
that the church itself never will.
Lajos Fritzlauf, a former prominent official and high profile member of
the Church of Scientology Hungary, died this summer. He was 55.
He was the longest serving Commanding Officer (CO) of the Central
European branch office of the Office of Special Affairs, Scientology's
public relations arm but also its secret police force.
To be honest, it is rather odd to write a eulogy about a former CO OSA,
as I am a key name on the Hungarian list of enemies of the Church of
Scientology. Still, knowing how the Church handles matters like this ?
either I write something or he will be totally forgotten, as if he
never existed.

Premier Doug Ford is standing by his decision to be photographed with a
far-right Toronto mayoral candidate and her supporters. Asked twice by
the NDP in the legislature Monday to denounce Faith Goldy and the
picture taken at the annual Ford Fest barbecue in Vaughan on Saturday
night, Ford did not.
Faith Goldy posted this photo on Twitter early Sunday with the caption:
"Thank God @fordnation is Premier of this great again province! His
respect for our officers & the taxpayer is unparalleled. The Ford
family knows better than most the deep level of rot at Toronto City
Hall. I can't wait to work WITH DOUG to cut taxes & Make Toronto Safe

"If (the NDP) were at Ford Fest - it's the most diverse group anywhere
in Canada - anywhere - of every race, of every creed, of every colour,
of every religion and every political stripe. There's no group in the
entire country that represents Toronto and Ontario more than Ford

Monday morning, posted a number of photos from Ford Fest, saying it was
the sixth she's attended.
She was fired by Rebel Media last year after she went to
Charlottesville, Virginia to cover the Unite The Right rally. Goldy
also appeared on The Daily Stormer, a neo-Nazi website.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford will not disavow a group of white
nationalists who took a photo with him over the weekend at "Ford Fest,"
even as the white nationalists use the photo for propaganda purposes to
legitimize their views.
Over the weekend, Ford appeared in a photo with a group of white
nationalists led by fringe mayoral candidate Faith Goldy, a former
Rebel Media contributor who was fired from the far-right website after
she appeared on a neo-Nazi podcast.
Since leaving Rebel Media, Goldy has become a hero to the online
alt-right, appearing in videos reciting a white supremacist creed and
endorsing a book authored by a 1930s fascist author advocating "the
elimination of Jews."

OTTAWA - After former Saskatchewan MP Larry Spencer was turfed from the
Canadian Alliance in 2003 for making inflammatory comments about
homosexuality, a young Andrew Scheer stayed on to work in his office.
Spencer had told a Vancouver Sun reporter he believed homosexuality was
a conspiracy and that he would support a bill to criminalize it.
Stephen Harper, who led the Canadian Alliance at the time, was on the
cusp of uniting with the Progressive Conservatives.
Harper fired Spencer from his critic role the same day the article was
published, calling the comments "unacceptable" and out of line with the
values of the party. Spencer issued an apology and withdrew from caucus.
Scheer, a new graduate at the time, didn't quit the
Regina-Lumsden-Lake Centre MP's constituency office.

Our thanks to the reader who sent us a tip that the nation of New
Zealand has just put out the results of its 2018 national census, which
includes the responses from 4,699,755 people as to their religious
affiliation.
The Church of Scientology will be thrilled to learn that it grew by a
massive two percent since the country's last census in 2013, when 315
people said they were Scientologists.
This time, 321 of them did.

In early May, senators voted to suspend Beyak without pay for the

As the Liberals' re-election campaign was foundering last week, Andrew
Scheer was promising that a Conservative government would spend $1.5
billion to reduce medical wait times.
It's a commitment that might stir some nostalgia. Stephen Harper's
Conservatives identified reducing wait times as one of their top five
priorities during the 2006 election. Once in government, the
Conservatives committed $700 million in funding and signed agreements
with the provinces.
Then everyone, including the Harper government, forgot about it.

If you were going to choose a leader for the Church of Scientology, how
would you go about it?
1. Well, first, you'd probably do some research and see if LRH ever
designated anyone as his successor. Given that this person's other
qualifications were in place, they would probably be a top candidate.
2. You'd want someone who is technically trained, ideally a Class XII
C/S. You'd want someone who has done a lot of auditing and C/Sing and
has a good record of technical results. If they are going to make
decisions that affect training and processing, you'd want them to know
what they are talking about.

Biggi Reichert: Does Scientology Have Another Lisa McPherson On Its Hands?

Biggi Reichert: What happened to her before her 2006 suicide? When I
talked to Marty Rathbun after his return from Germany recently, he
mentioned that one of the things he and Ursula Caberta hoped would come
from their new friendship was cooperation on a mysterious death
involving a German Scientologist.
Today, Rathbun held up his end of that bargain, going public with what
he knows in the apparent suicide of a woman named Biggi Reichert, and
asking for the public's help in solving some strange unanswered
questions in her death.
Rathbun had told me that Caberta, a German government official who has
been working since 1992 to curb Scientology's influence there,
considers this a very troubling and potentially damaging situation for
the church.

Last night, on Dancing With The Stars, Leah Remini was heard telling
her dance partner, Tony Dovolani, that Scientology, which she left this
summer, wants her to fail on the program so its members would think
that's what happens to anyone who leaves. "You're used to taking a lot
of negativity on yourself," she said about being a part of Scientology.
We wanted to ask another actor who left the church recently what he
thought about her words. We spoke to Jason Beghe last night and asked
him, was Leah Remini correct to say that Scientology wants her to fail?
Beghe left Scientology in 2008 in a very public way, recording a
YouTube video denouncing the church. Since then, the veteran film and
television actor's career has taken off with recurring roles in
Californication and Chicago Fire, and now he's filming episodes for his
own spinoff series, Chicago PD. But in spite of that success, he's
dealt with severe harassment from Scientology since he left, and he
told us there was no question that Remini was right about what she said
on television last night.

TORONTO ? Rob Ford wasn't there in person, but the controversial
Toronto mayor's presence loomed large Tuesday night as his older
brother firmly took his place in the city's mayoral race.
A rowdy crowd served up loud opposing cheers and jeers as Doug Ford
faced off against his main rivals with many of the same promises
offered by his famous brother.
The siblings switched spots in the municipal competition earlier this
month after it was announced that Rob Ford had an abdominal tumour
which was later diagnosed as a rare and aggressive form of cancer. The
mayor was released from hospital on Tuesday afternoon after undergoing
his first round of chemotherapy.

One episode involved political rival Olivia Chow, and a man who
screamed at her to "go home? back to China" and that "she's Chinese!
She's not Canadian!" during Tuesday's raucous debate in Weston. That
same day, Kristyn Wong-Tam, council's only openly gay member, tweeted
the photo of a letter sent to her by someone who identified as a Ford
Nation supporter. The letter was entitled "let's kick the fa?ots out of
city hall" and told Ms. Wong-Tam that "I hope you get AIDS and die in
public office."
During a press conference at his campaign headquarters in Etobicoke, Mr.
Ford condemned both episodes.

for a hearing before the Texas Third Court of Appeals.
In July, the same court overturned a lower court order that would have
allowed Monique to depose Scientology leader David Miscavige in her
harassment suit against the church. But that was for a jurisdictional
question in a preliminary matter. This time, however, the entire ball
of wax is on the line.

Ballantine Books announced today what we've known for some time: Leah
Remini's memoir is finished and coming out soon. Titled Troublemaker:
Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, the book is scheduled to be
released on November 3, and we expect there to be a tidal wave of
publicity over it.
Since her very public defection from Scientology (a story broken here
at the Underground Bunker in July 2013), Leah has worked hard to raise
her profile, appearing on ABC's Dancing with the Stars and then in her
own reality series, It's All Relative. Along the way, she's talked
about leaving Scientology, but in largely vague terms.
What she hasn't said, but has held back for her book, are the really
amazing details about her long process of disaffection from Scientology
that we first detailed here at the Bunker. They include a spectacular
scene in 2006 at the wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes in a castle
outside Rome, which included Leah daring to ask why Scientology's
leader, David Miscavige, was there without his wife, Shelly.

We don't know if this is a record, but it sure impresses the heck out
of us.
Back in 2011, we wrote a story about someone Scientology had tracked
down after they left the organization 40 years earlier. The man had
moved ten times since then, and across the country, but Scientology
tracked him down and called him on his mobile phone to send him a DVD
and try to get him to come back to the church.
We're sure you've seen plenty of other examples of this that pop up
from time to time on social media. Scientology sends some of the most
ridiculous letters to people who may have simply bought a copy of
Dianetics 15 years earlier.

Rod Keller brings us up to date on Scientology's response to various
natural disasters around the world this past month...
The Scientology Volunteer Minister program claims to be "one of the
largest independent relief organizations in the world." They are not
that. They are poorly organized and depend on donations to get through
each day of a relief mission. They depend on untrained volunteers to
re-invent relief procedures for each emergency. The purpose is to show
that Scientology is a real religion, but the help that reaches people
in emergency conditions is fairly minimal.
When you donate to the American Red Cross or a similar organization for
hurricane or earthquake relief, your money will probably be spent for
the next emergency and not the current one. Large relief organizations
pre-position supplies. The Red Cross has manufactured large supplies of
blankets and clothing ahead of an emergency, and donations serve mainly
to replenish their reserves. This is good planning and prevents
spending to sort out, transport and store donated items. They don't
want you to bring them a case of bottled water. They want you to donate
money and they can buy water in a more efficient way. The Volunteer
Ministers, or VMs work differently. They spent the first few days of
the Hurricane Harvey crisis in Houston, Texas assembling cleaning
products into kits for distribution.

Our man in Hungary, P?ter Bonyai, has a special piece for us today
that, sadly, fits in with a history of similar remembrances here at the
Underground Bunker, where we memorialize Church of Scientology figures
that the church itself never will.
Lajos Fritzlauf, a former prominent official and high profile member of
the Church of Scientology Hungary, died this summer. He was 55.
He was the longest serving Commanding Officer (CO) of the Central
European branch office of the Office of Special Affairs, Scientology's
public relations arm but also its secret police force.
To be honest, it is rather odd to write a eulogy about a former CO OSA,
as I am a key name on the Hungarian list of enemies of the Church of
Scientology. Still, knowing how the Church handles matters like this ?
either I write something or he will be totally forgotten, as if he
never existed.

Now, she is the fringe mayoral candidate who famously posed with Ford
over the weekend, and whose photo has gone viral - putting the premier
in political peril.
That would be the fringe journalist who famously appeared on the
neo-Nazi Daily Stormer website, and whose shameless white nationalism
has gone viral - getting her sacked by the far-right Rebel Media last
year.

Premier Doug Ford is standing by his decision to be photographed with a
far-right Toronto mayoral candidate and her supporters. Asked twice by
the NDP in the legislature Monday to denounce Faith Goldy and the
picture taken at the annual Ford Fest barbecue in Vaughan on Saturday
night, Ford did not.
Faith Goldy posted this photo on Twitter early Sunday with the caption:
"Thank God @fordnation is Premier of this great again province! His
respect for our officers & the taxpayer is unparalleled. The Ford
family knows better than most the deep level of rot at Toronto City
Hall. I can't wait to work WITH DOUG to cut taxes & Make Toronto Safe
Again!" ( Twitter )
"If (the NDP) were at Ford Fest - it's the most diverse group anywhere
in Canada - anywhere - of every race, of every creed, of every colour,
of every religion and every political stripe. There's no group in the
entire country that represents Toronto and Ontario more than Ford
Nation does," the premier said, accusing the NDP of sinking to a "new
low." "I can't help when thousands of people are coming at you and
they're taking pictures right, left and centre." Ford did not receive a
standing ovation from PC MPPs following his remarks in the legislature,
as he typically does from his enthusiastic benches, and their applause
was sparse. A few Tory MPPs looked visibly uncomfortable with the

Later, the premier's office said, "as he said during question period,
the premier denounces all forms of hate, regardless of who says it" - a
comment Ford made later in the debate when asked about the future of
the anti-racism directorate.
Goldy, who was trending on Twitter after crashing a mayoral debate
Monday morning, posted a number of photos from Ford Fest, saying it was
the sixth she's attended.
She was fired by Rebel Media last year after she went to
Charlottesville, Virginia to cover the Unite The Right rally. Goldy
also appeared on The Daily Stormer, a neo-Nazi website.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford will not disavow a group of white
nationalists who took a photo with him over the weekend at "Ford Fest,"
even as the white nationalists use the photo for propaganda purposes to
legitimize their views.
Over the weekend, Ford appeared in a photo with a group of white
nationalists led by fringe mayoral candidate Faith Goldy, a former
Rebel Media contributor who was fired from the far-right website after
she appeared on a neo-Nazi podcast.
Since leaving Rebel Media, Goldy has become a hero to the online
alt-right, appearing in videos reciting a white supremacist creed and
endorsing a book authored by a 1930s fascist author advocating "the
elimination of Jews."

OTTAWA - After former Saskatchewan MP Larry Spencer was turfed from the
Canadian Alliance in 2003 for making inflammatory comments about
homosexuality, a young Andrew Scheer stayed on to work in his office.
Spencer had told a Vancouver Sun reporter he believed homosexuality was
a conspiracy and that he would support a bill to criminalize it.
Stephen Harper, who led the Canadian Alliance at the time, was on the
cusp of uniting with the Progressive Conservatives.
Harper fired Spencer from his critic role the same day the article was
published, calling the comments "unacceptable" and out of line with the
values of the party. Spencer issued an apology and withdrew from caucus.
Scheer, a new graduate at the time, didn't quit the
Regina-Lumsden-Lake Centre MP's constituency office.

Our thanks to the reader who sent us a tip that the nation of New
Zealand has just put out the results of its 2018 national census, which
includes the responses from 4,699,755 people as to their religious
affiliation.
The Church of Scientology will be thrilled to learn that it grew by a
massive two percent since the country's last census in 2013, when 315
people said they were Scientologists.
This time, 321 of them did.

OTTAWA - Racist letters about Indigenous Peoples have finally been
removed from Sen. Lynn Beyak's website - but only because Senate
officials erased them after Beyak refused to do so herself.
She is still thumbing her nose at Senate orders to apologize for
posting the letters and to take educational programs on racism directed
at Indigenous people.
In early May, senators voted to suspend Beyak without pay for the
remainder of the parliamentary session, which ended with the call of
the federal election on Sept. 11.

in Cambridge on Tuesday afternoon.
But they quickly moved when word spread Scheer's bus had stopped at L.A.
Franks, a popular quick-serve restaurant less than a kilometre away.
By the time many of the demonstrators made it to the restaurant, Scheer
was back on the campaign bus.

local hot dog spot just 600 metres away from the cafe.

Scheer has fought back in lacklustre fashion by conjuring up the
nightmare of Liberal governments past, specifically those of Kathleen
Wynne and Dalton McGuinty in Ontario.
But he is wide open to the charge that he will slash-and-burn services
because every day he makes new spending promises, while saying he will
return the budget to balance within five years.

As the Liberals' re-election campaign was foundering last week, Andrew
Scheer was promising that a Conservative government would spend $1.5
billion to reduce medical wait times.
It's a commitment that might stir some nostalgia. Stephen Harper's
Conservatives identified reducing wait times as one of their top five
priorities during the 2006 election. Once in government, the
Conservatives committed $700 million in funding and signed agreements
with the provinces.
Then everyone, including the Harper government, forgot about it.
