LOS ANGELES -- Charges by church defectors that Scientology founder L.
Ron Hubbard diverted more than $100 million in church funds to foreign
bank accounts was described Wednesday as 'garbage' by the sect's
president.

'I call it hyperspace junk writing,' said Heber Jentzsch, president of
the Church of Scientology International.

The former senior church officials, who have testified about the
church's inner workings in Los Angeles court, told the New York Times
that Hubbarddirected them to establish shell corporations to channel
much of the church's resources to his overseas bank accounts. Most of
the money was on deposit in Luxembourg and Liechtenstein, they said.

Scientology chief got millions, ex-aides say
July 11, 1984, Robert Lindsey, New York Times
http://www.lermanet.com/scientologynews/nytimes/scientology-chief-got-millions-071184.html

Former officials of the Church of Scientology say they helped L. Ron
Hubbard, the reclusive founder of the cult- like organization, to
secretly divert more than $100 million from the church into foreign
bank accounts he controlled.

The organization, long a subject of investigations in this country,
Britain, France, Australia, South Africa, Spain and elsewhere, has
maintained that Mr. Hubbard cut his ties to it in the mid-1970's, that
he has received only a token consulting fee of $35,000 annually since
then and that its millions of dollars a year in revenue are being spent
for charitable purposes.

But former senior officials of the group asserted in interviews that at
Mr. Hubbard's direction in the 1970's and into 1982, they had
established a series of shell corporations set up to channel much of
the church's resources to his overseas accounts. They said the scheme
was also intended to shield him from criminal and civil proceedings
against the organization by creating an illusion that he was no longer
connected to it. Most of the money, they said, was on deposit in
Luxembourg and Liechtenstein.

NEW YORK -- The reclusive founder of Scientology diverted more than

Rip-roaring boost for paper shredders
July 11, 1987, Karl Vick, St. Petersburg Times

Leo Connell of Largo's Delta Sales and Service Reps Inc. said he sold A.
C. Nielsen Co. shredders to destroy papers which, if set out in the
trash outside its Dunedin operations center, might reveal the names of
America's Nielsen families.

"I've sold the Church of Scientology several shredders," said Becklund.
"They shred everything. As a matter of fact when the city of Clearwater
was investigating them they bought shredders from us. They'd bring in
15, 20 four-drawer legal files and they'd shred them.

"Oh yeah. Lot of maintenance."

Tribe Objects to Licensing of Narconon Facility

One of five tribes that lease land to a controversial drug-treatment
center objects to another tribe's licensing of the facility, saying
state certification of the center would not impinge on Indian
sovereignty.

Narconon Chilocco has been operating without a state license since it
opened about two years ago on Indian land near Kansas, and is fighting
state efforts to shut it down.

NEW YORK (AP) _ Tom Cruise said he learned to overcome his learning
disability through Scientology.

"When I was about 7, I had been labeled dyslexic," he told People
magazine for its July 21 issue. "I'd try to concentrate on what I was
reading, then I'd get to the end of the page and have very little
memory of anything I'd read. I would go blank, feel anxious, nervous,
bored, frustrated, dumb."

After "Top Gun" came out in 1986, Cruise became a Scientologist and
discovered the "Study Technology" the religion's founder, L. Ron
Hubbard, developed in the 1960s.

Scientology the cult of disbelief

Beals said he had been advised by the Church of Scientology against
seeking therapy. According to him, the organisation's members talked
him out of accessing psychological help while "bleeding dry" his bank
accounts.

"If I wouldn't have got involved with Scientology, I wouldn't have
committed this crime," he said.

After Beals' remarks were published by the Salt Lake Tribune, the
response from the Church of Scientology was swift and scathing. In a
letter to the editor, the Church of Scientology's executive director
Joava Good pointed out that the Parole Board had subsequently rejected
Beals' appeal and claimed his statements relating to the church were
"baseless and false".

Education Minister Jane Lomax-Smith has also questioned the
organisation's tax-free status in comments to an anti-Scientology group

11th Circuit Rescues Fla. Lawyer Caught in Conflicting Rulings, Says He Must
Quit Scientology Case
July 11, 2011, Martha Neil, ABA Journal
http://www.abajournal.com/news/article/11th_circuit_rescues_fla._lawyer_caught_in_conflicting_rulings_says_he_must/

But Ken Dandar sued the church again in 2009, leading to an
uncomfortable situation: A state court judge told Dandar he had to
withdraw as counsel in the federal wrongful death case against the
church and threatened to hit him with hefty monetary penalties if he
didn't. Meanwhile, the federal judge in the case said he couldn't
withdraw, as detailed in an earlier ABAJournal.com post.

Now a federal appeals court has gotten Dandar out of the jam, holding
that U.S. District Judge Steven Merryday lacked the power to
countermand the order by Pinellas Circuit Judge Robert Beach that
Dandar must step down, the St. Petersburg Times reported.

Placido Domingo Jr. targeted by Scientologists after he abandons cult for ex-

July 11, 2011, Daily Mail
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2013433/Placido-Domingo-Jr-targeted-Scientologists-abandons-cult-favour-ex-wife.html

The son of renown tenor Placido Domingo left the cult earlier this year
but claims the way that he has been treated is 'scary and pathetic'.

Domingo walked out on the group after its leaders ordered him to cut
all contact with his ex-wife Samantha - but he refused.
Scientology leaders put out a mass call for church members to
'unfriend' him on Facebook on Saturday, revealed Village Voice.

'It's an outrage. It's penitent-privilege information. Imagine if they
did that to Tom Cruise or John Travolta. My God,' he said.

The strange case of Placido Domingo Jr. and the Church of Scientology
July 11, 2011, Los Angeles Times
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/culturemonster/2011/07/placido-domingo-jr-scientology.html

On Saturday, the Village Voice published a blog interview with Placido
Domingo Jr. in which he accused the church of taking retaliatory
measures against him for his decision to leave the organization after
20 years. The interview -- in which Domingo Jr. called Scientology's
actions "scary and pathetic" -- has been picked up by gossip blogs,
including Radar, as well as Britain's Daily Mail.

In the interview, Domingo Jr. said he was finished with the church and
angry at the way it had tried to make him "disconnect" from his
ex-wife, Samantha Domingo. He added that the church had encouraged its
members to un-friend him on Facebook, and that leaders had escalated
attacks on him by posting online details of his personal life that he
only revealed during confidential auditing sessions.

Boarding school in England funnels students into Scientology's most secretive

July 11, 2012, Victoria Cavaliere, New York Daily News
http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/gossip/boarding-school-england-funnels-students-scientology-secretive-sect-article-1.1112468

Greenfields School in England's Sussex countryside describes itself as
an "independent day and boarding school from 2 to 18 years old." But
those with a close knowledge of the institution tell London's Evening
Standard it is "the school of choice" for employees of Saint Hill
Manor, Scientology's UK headquarters.

Former students at Greenfields told the Standard that each year, as
many as 10 students "disappear," from their normal educational track
and are rumored to have been sent to the United States to enroll at Sea
Organization, the religious order of the Church of Scientology. Sea
Org, which boasts about 6,000 members, is housed in a compound near Los
Angeles and devotees purportedly wear Naval-style uniforms.

Church Of Scientology Paid Lobbyist $590k from 2005-2012

http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2012/07/church-scientology-paid-lobbyist-590k-2005-2012

During a seven year period the Church of Scientology has given a
powerful lobbyist $590k to appeal to Congress on a range of issues from
a threat of religious freedoms in foreign countries, 9/11 rescue
workers, to immigration, according to documents reviewed exclusively by
RadarOnline.com.

The Church Of Scientology hired The Mitchell Firm in 2003 to lobby
politicians about issues important to the organization. Under federal
law, the Lobbying Reports must be filed each quarter and are available
to the public. Greg Mitchell, founder of The Mitchell Group is the
former chief of staff of ex-Republican Congressman James Rogan of

Scientologesque swipe at Katie Holmes last week:

We are letting 'the other side' (Katie and her team), play the media

Now that his de facto client David Miscavige (Scientology Inc. supreme

Scientologists plan Hollywood TV studio
July 11, 2012, Ronald Grover , Reuters
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/07/11/us-scientology-tv-idUSBRE86A1BQ20120711

The Church of Scientology, the religion whose followers include actors
Tom Cruise and John Travolta, plans to start a religious broadcasting
center to promote its teachings over TV, radio and the Internet.

The center, located near the church's West Coast headquarters in
Hollywood, would occupy the nearly five-acre studio property the church
bought last year from Los Angeles public TV station KCET for $42
million. The station would elevate the public profile of a religion
that has mostly relied on pamphlets and books by its founder, L. Ron
Hubbard, to proselytize for new members.

"The church plans to establish a central media hub for our growing
world network of churches and to move into the production of religious
television and radio broadcasting," said Karin Pouw, a spokeswoman for
Church of Scientology International, in an email.

Heber Jentzsch, president of the Church of Scientology International --
who has not been seen in public since about 2004 -- is being allowed to
leave Scientology's desert base east of Los Angeles in order to attend
a memorial for his son, Alexander.

A church official told our source that Heber, 76, would be giving a
eulogy at the service, which is to take place at the Hollywood
Celebrity Centre on Franklin Avenue on Thursday morning at 11 am.

When our source asked the official if Alexander's mother, Karen de la
Carriere, would be allowed to attend, the official answered that de la
Carriere would be barred because "she opted out of this sector of the

Leah Remini Leaves Scientology After Questioning David Miscavige's Leadership
July 11, 2013, Erin Carlson, Hollywood Reporter

Leah Remini is leaving Scientology after questioning its treatment of
church members and the controversial, allegedly autocratic leadership
of David Miscavige, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

Remini, who starred on the CBS sitcom King of Queens and, more
recently, ABC's short-lived Family Tools, has quit following years of
scrutiny in which she was alleged to have repeatedly been interrogated
and forced to undergo "thought modification."

"I wish to share my sincere and heartfelt appreciation for the
overwhelming positive response I have received from the media, my
colleagues, and fans from around the world. I am truly grateful and
thankful for all your support," the actress said in a statement
released to THR.

Mike Rinder: Is the Leah Remini Anonymous Smear Website Coming Soon?
July 11, 2013, Tony Ortega, Underground Bunker
http://tonyortega.org/2013/07/11/mike-rinder-is-the-leah-remini-anonymous-smear-website-coming-soon/

UPDATE: See below - A possible smear site has just been registered!

Former Scientology spokesman Mike Rinder makes a great point on his
website this afternoon: Now that news we broke Monday of Leah Remini
leaving the Church of Scientology has spread like wildfire thanks to
this morning's front-page New York Post rewrite, will the church follow
its usual playbook and launch an anonymous attack website to smear the
King of Queens actress?

What Rinder is referring to is Scientology's predictable use of
leering, salacious but anonymous websites that attempt to smear the
reputation of former members who dare to speak out, or journalists who
dare to ask impertinent questions. Previously, we wrote a lengthy story
about one smear site in particular, which targeted former Scientology
executive Marty Rathbun (pictured, at right).

Chuck Beatty discusses David Miscavige, Scientology, and Author Services Inc
July 11, 2014, SurvivingScientology, YouTube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEhYbTwVypU

Former Sea Org member Chuck Beatty and Jeffrey Augustine discuss a
perennial debate: Did L. Ron Hubbard appoint David Miscavige his
successor, or, did David Miscavige seize power? Chuck also discusses
his experiences in Author Services Incorporated and the way Miscavige
used ASI to assume power over the Church prior to becoming COB RTC.
Chuck describes how ASI was created as a legal way to funnel money to L.
Ron Hubbard. Jeff mentions a little known fact: David Miscavige had a
life-threatening asthma attack in 1980. Emerging from this crisis in a
hospital emergency room, David Miscavige told Paul Grady that he had a
revelation that "Power is Assumed" and thereafter began to assume power
in the Church by whatever means it required.
This is part 2 of an on going Series exposing "Author Services".

July 11, 2014, Marty Rathbun, Moving On Up a Little Higher
https://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2014/07/10/clear-and-beyond/

The lower level scientology program up to the state of Clear is a
directed form of client-centered psychotherapy. One doctor fully
trained in both client-centered therapy and scientology has astutely
written that 'directed client-centered therapy' is an apparent oxymoron.
That may in fact be a critical entry point for the bipolar quality
that seems embedded throughout scientology. Nonetheless, the
description of the end product of the scientology lower levels is
nearly identical to that described as the self-actualization end
product of client-centered therapy.

When a person reaches the Clear state - resembling common notions of
self-actualization - he is indoctrinated into the secrets of the
universe. Fully grasping those secrets requires the adoption of a form
of multiple personality disorder. Incidentally, and not the impetus for
this observation, modern mental health recognizes that certain
psychotherapeutic practices can serve as a causation factor for mpd.
Scientology secrets inform the individual that in fact he is not an
individual at all. Instead he is a 'composite being', consisting of a
potential infinity of separate, distinct individuals. Each individual
member of the composite has quadrillions of years of its own
experiential history that it brings to the dizzy equation.
Extraordinary, and expensive to the seeker, measures are employed to
ensure the scientologist believes this universe view with utter
certitude. For several tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars the
advanced scientologist is invited to address and release each of his or
her parasite personalities. The process entails hundreds or thousands
of individual sessions. The process takes many years. The individual
completes this penultimate scientology advanced level when there are
apparently no more personalities left but his own.

The scientologist then pays another ten to twenty thousand dollars for
the privilege of determining which of the lifetimes of those now
allegedly departed parasite personalities he mistook for his own. That
is what L. Ron Hubbard left behind as his legacy.

Hamtaro's Outstanding Analysis of Narconon's Legal Situation
July 11, 2014, Jeffrey Augustine, Scientology Money Project
http://scientologymoneyproject.com/2014/07/11/hamtaros-outstanding-analysis-of-narconons-legal-situation/

As reported today by Tony Ortega, Las Vegas attorney Ryan Hamilton has
filed his sixteenth lawsuit against Narconon, the disreputable and
highly controversial Church of Scientology licensed drug rehab center.
Hamtaro, a member of the Underground Bunker commenting community,
posted what I think is an outstanding analysis of Narconon's legal
situation. I am reposting here in its entirety:

Hamtaro ? 11 hours ago

"We're told that this is a standard procedure in this particular court,
and that there's a good chance this lawsuit could be settled at that
meeting."

Ken Dandar could use a cool million in his fight against Scientology
July 11, 2014, Tony Ortega, Underground Bunker
http://tonyortega.org/2014/07/11/ken-dandar-could-use-a-cool-million-in-his-fight-against-scientology/

The last time we spoke with Florida attorney Ken Dandar, he had put on
a brave face about what appeared to be another setback in court.
Federal Judge Virginia M. Hernandez Covington had refused, again, to
intervene with a state court that had saddled Dandar with a $1 million
judgment, payable to the Church of Scientology.

Dandar told us, however, that he was encouraged that Covington had
allowed part of his lawsuit against Scientology and the lower court to
stand. "She denied their motion to dismiss. That's huge. She recognizes
the federal rights in this case, but she's reluctant to interfere with
the state courts," he told us.

Our sources tell us that the situation is worse than he let on. And
after another hearing before retired state judge Crockett Farnell on
August 6, things could become downright untenable for Dandar.

The IAS Grows Big Beings
July 11, 2014, Mike Rinder, Something Can Be Done About It
http://www.mikerindersblog.org/the-ias-grows-big-beings/

This is sort of sad. Put aside the crazy "Mega-Status" title if you can.

These people, like so many others, actually believe they are doing good
with the money they give to the International Association of Scavengers.

But they are so deluded they actually believe they are being made into
"Big Beings" by the IAS.

More ILO Vultures
July 11, 2015, Mike Rinder, Something Can Be Done About It
http://www.mikerindersblog.org/more-ilo-vultures/

These people are absolutely shameless. They can no longer be
categorized as the Little Rascals. They are no more than vultures.

Apparently they have decided to "fundraise" directly to public from the
"ILO" and they will ask for money for anything and everything. This is
either a way to make a little extra income from commissions or it it
part of one of the infamous "you out-exchange criminals in the ILO are
going to at least pay for your room and board by earning some income
selling Basicss/congresses/Ideal Org statuses/IAS statuses/anything at
all you can persuade someone to give you money for."

I have already published two previous pitches from this gang of
vampires for the New Zealand "ideal org" and "SMP" (KCET studios).

The dark side of Scientology
July 11, 2015, Peter Calder, New Zealand Herald
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/news/article.cfm?c_id=1501119&objectid=11479320

The new documentary by the prolific Alex Gibney should come with an
advisory notice: "Warning: Bohemian Rhapsody was harmed during the
making of this film." Queen's high-camp and purely joyous
quasi-operatic masterpiece sustains some pretty severe damage during a
sequence in which it is the soundtrack to the creepiest game of musical
chairs you've ever seen.

The game takes place in a "re-education camp" for officials of the
Church of Scientology whose loyalty to the organisation has come under
suspicion. Known as "The Hole", it consists of two large ant-infested
trailer homes in which internees are deprived of sleep and served slop
for food, sometimes having to eat from the floor.

Yet in the film, Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, one
such internee tells Gibney that they were so controlled that they never
considered escaping. As for that musical chairs game, the last person
sitting gets to stay - the rest are exiled.

The story of Brian Sheen and his 'disconnected' Scientology daughter you
haven't heard
July 11, 2015, Tony Ortega, Underground Bunker
http://tonyortega.org/2015/07/11/the-story-of-brian-sheen-and-his-disconnected-scientology-daughter-you-havent-heard/

The story hit Thursday night at about midnight, just as we were putting
to bed our own piece about a Scientology day care scandal.

A local television station in South Florida reported that a man named
Brian Sheen, 62, had filed a "civil rights complaint with the state"
over Scientology's toxic "disconnection" policy which rips apart so
many families. In his case, his daughter, a Scientologist, had turned
away from him, and he was being told nothing by the church about why it
had ordered her to do so.

It seemed like a juicy story, and over the next 24 hours it was picked
up by numerous other outlets, including the Palm Beach Post and the
Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard's caretaker and friend, Steve 'Sarge'
Pfauth, 1945-2016
July 11, 2016, Tony Ortega, Underground Bunker
http://tonyortega.org/2016/07/11/scientology-founder-l-ron-hubbards-caretaker-and-friend-steve-sarge-pfauth-1945-2016/

Sinar Parman, Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard's former personal
chef, revealed on Facebook last night that Steve 'Sarge' Pfauth died
yesterday in Michigan of heart and kidney ailments. Pfauth was 70.

Pfauth was a loyal friend to Hubbard and served him as a caretaker and
ranch hand in his final years. From 1983 to 1986, Pfauth worked at the
Creston, California ranch were Hubbard spent his final days. As Pfauth
later pointed out, he worked so closely with Hubbard his signature
appears on both Hubbard's death certificate and his last will.

And it was Pfauth who had such a bombshell of information about
Hubbard's final days, author Lawrence Wright chose to use it as the
ending for his 2013 history, Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and
the Prison of Belief. In that anecdote, Pfauth revealed that late in
1985, Hubbard asked Pfauth to construct a lethal version of an E-Meter
so he could end his life. Pfauth instead built one with low voltage
that made a lot of sparks, and Hubbard didn't harm himself. But Hubbard
died several weeks later of a stroke, on January 24, 1986.

Scientology, the Merchants of Chaos, the IAS and Hype
July 11, 2016, Mike Rinder, Something Can Be Done About It
http://www.mikerindersblog.org/scientology-the-merchants-of-chaos-the-ias-and-hype/

A vital element of the control scientology exercises over its
membership is the control of information.

Scientologists are exhorted not to look at the internet and not to
watch the media. For they are the Merchants of Chaos (unless they
report on something positive about scientology, in which case they are
lauded and scientology certainly spends a LOT of money sending out paid
for press releases).

In the promotion that has circulated about the IAS "Maiden Voyage"
event there has been a great deal of hype about a monumentally epic
announcement made by "COB." Here is just one of the hypey
communications from one of the kings of hype, the voice of the IAS
itself, Jeff Pomerantz.

Helping Billions
July 11, 2017, Mike Rinder, Something Can Be Done About It
http://www.mikerindersblog.org/helping-billions/

Our old buddy Colin Davie is at it again. This guy might well be one of
the most unreal people on planet earth.

He is also the perfect example of the money-grubber who is
unembarrassed to say literally anything to try and get you to hand over
your cash. In an environment when ridiculous hype showers down from the
top, the world of scientology is a culture of lies - but even in that
context this guy is breathtaking. He is like watching one of those
"professional eaters" who stuffs 75 hot dogs down their throats in one
minute. Mesmerizing, disgusting and weird all at once. Someone actually
lives their life doing this day in and day out? And even seems proud of
it?

How Humira, the world's best selling drug, is helping to finance Scientology
into the future

The always reliable Jeffrey Augustine has scored another fascinating
document for us that we are happy to share with you today.

It's a tax document showing that the richest Scientologist donors in
the world, Bob and Trish Duggan, recently found a way to make sure that
millions more will be going to the church each year, and with no end in
sight.

That's the conclusion we've come to after looking at the tax document
Jeffrey found and sent to us recently. It's a 2015 tax return for the
Bob & Trish Duggan Foundation, and it has some eye-opening numbers.
