How did the Prophet Muhammad Die?

The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, died in Medina on June 8th 632 AD from a high-fever. Muhammad fell ill, suffering from head pains and a high fever and eventually succumbed to this illness, dying in his wife, Aisha's, arms. He instructed his wife to donate his last Earthly goods, a mere seven coins, to the poor and uttered the final quote:

"Rather, God on High Praise and Paradise" - Quote of the Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him.

Following Islamic tradition, Muhammad was buried on the same day he died in a simple, unmarked grave. The Prophet Muhammad died in Aisha's house in Medina, where he was then buried. A mosque was erected over this place, the Mosque of the Prophet, which would eventually be capped with a green dome. While the Mosque and Muhammad's tomb were erected to honor the Prophet Muhammad, Islam generally forbids the worshiping of anything but the one true God and thus followers of Islam should not worship Muhammad's grave.

Muhammad, peace be upon him, had died at the age of 62, an old age during the life and times of the Prophet Mohammad. Over the span of his life Muhammad achieve a great many things and laid the foundation for what is now the world's second largest and fastest growing religion.

Several of Muhammad's closet followers and also the first two Caliphates, are buried in tombs next to Muhammad's tomb. There is also an empty casket that is meant to hold Jesus Christ after he returns to Earth. This site is now contained within the Mosque of the Prophet in order to ensure that no damage is done to it.

The status of Muhammad's tomb has been a source of controversy in the Islamic world. When bin Saud took control of Medina in 1805 he ordered that all of the gold and ornaments be taken off of the grave site. This was not due to typical "pillaging" but because bin Saud actually felt that such an attempt to "honor" to the Prophet goes against the teachings of Islam. In 1925 conservative militias again took control of Medina and razed many of the tombs but after much debate elected not to raze Muhammad's tomb.

Pilgrims still visit the tomb of Muhammad, which is often frowned upon by conservative Muslims. A Muslim should always worship the one true God and no one or nothing else. Thus Muslims should not worship the Prophet Muhammad himself, or his grave site but only the one true God.

During the last years of his life the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, helped build a large Muslim community that would come to dominate the Middle East. His death, however, caused a rift and in-fighting among various Muslim groups. The most contentious issue was over who should lead the Islamic community following the Prophet's death and would eventually result in the split between the Sunni and Shia sects of Islam.

Regardless, the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, led a long and full life, contributing to the world as a whole and spreading the word of the one, true God.

You selling lies, Mooslimoon. He was poisoned by a Jewish woman

From Ibn Sa'd page 249:

" The apostle of Allah and his companions ate from it. It (goat) said: "I am poisoned." He [Muhammad] said to his Companions, "Hold you hands! because it has informed me that it is poisoned!" They withdrew their hands, but Bishr Ibn al-Bara expired. The apostle of Allah sent for her (Jewess) and asked her, "What induced you to do what you have done?" She replied, "I wanted to know if you are a prophet, in that case it will not harm you and if you are a king, I shall relieve the people of you. He gave orders and she was put to death."

It's a pity this good woman didn't poison him in Mecca. Had it been the case, we would have no Islam today.

Another deceitful fiction. Another lie. His 'earthly goods' were not just 'seven coins', as you say. Mo left a huge amount of wealth behind. Where do you think the entire wealth of the Bani Nadir and Fadak went? It all went to him. In addition , in his caravan raids 20% of all the loot became his personal property.

Read Tabari it counts the wealth of Muhammad after his death. He had several slaves and hundreds of camels. An another hadith gives an account us that in one occasion Aisha freed 40 of her slaves as expiation for breaching an oath. How many slaves else she owned if she could afford freeing 40 of her slaves in one day? Aisha was not the only Muhammad's wife. After his death , all his wives received equal share from the spoils of wars.

During his life Mo took as his personal property the entire town of Fadak after he raided Khaybar. When he died, his daughter Fatima claimed the town as her inheritance and said it should be given to her.

Mo also owned nine houses, one for each of his wives. He also had a garden with a house in it outside Medina where Mariyah, his Coptic sex slave lived, away from his wives. He had hundreds of camels, horses and a lot of equipment of war and tremendous amount of money that he had looted in his 78 raids.

The claim that Mo died penniless , 'owing just seven coins' is outright ridiculous.

Sick losers mainly the followers of Greco-Roman Pagan order commonly known as Paulian Christianinty envious of the truth as presented by Islam are busy
In concocting stories with a futile attempt to discredit the true message of God to humanity. But they knoweth not that their childish attempts have become one of the factors in the meteoric world wide growth of Islam.

Excerpts as given below from an article by such devilishly hateful critters and the explanations given there in are self evident to sentiments expressed above.

http://answering-islam.org/Silas/mo-death.htm

Missionary writer of Answering-Islam has written an article about the death of the prophet Muhammad, his article much like his other works fall in on itself, and I hope all the readers stay tuned till the end, when you shall see Silas refutes himself in his own article!

With that said we now proceed to Silas' article.

He Wrote

INTRODUCTION
Muhammad died in 632 A.D. He died as a result of being poisoned following his attack upon and conquest of the Jewish settlement of Khaibar. About 2 month before his attack on Khaibar Muhammad failed in an attempt to go to Mecca. This failure resulted in the Treaty of Hudaybiyya with the Meccans. He returned humiliated in the eyes of the Meccans and in the minds of his people. To lift their defeated spirit, Muhammad told his followers that the events at Hudaybiyya were really a victory. In fact, another convenient "revelation" was given to Muhammad as proof that it really was a victory (Sura 48:1). However, Allah was not able to deliver the Meccan's goods as booty, so Muhammad told his followers that they were going to attack and plunder the weaker Jewish settlement of Khaibar.

My Response

Silas' blunders start early on, something quite common. He claims the prophet received a convenient revelation during the bad time, however so, this convenient proved to be a true message, and a message only God could have known at the time.

The treaty of Hudaybiyya did look like a loss for the Muslims, but however so, Allah plans best, and Allah told the prophet Muhammad it was a victory for him and the Muslims. And what a great victory, within 2 years the prophet Muhammad returned to Makkah, with 10,000 Muslim men, and took Makkah over without a single drop of blood being shed. The Quraysh gave up without a fight, and most of them accepted Islam. So Silas, would you care to comment on how this verse given to the prophet came to pass in just 2 years showing it was correct?

He Wrote

About 6 weeks later Muhammad led his army and attacked the Jews while they were on their way to work on their date palms. Khaibar was a settlement defended by a number of forts spread apart from each other. One by one Muhammad's army took the forts. Finally, the last few surrendered to him. Muhammad had several of the leaders of the Jewish settlement beheaded, one leader (Kinana) was tortured to reveal where buried treasure was hidden. Then when Kinana was near death, Muhammad commanded that he be beheaded. Many of the women and children were enslaved. Muhammad even took the most beautiful woman for himself and married her (Safiyah).

My Response

Silas commits several blunders, let us check these blunders out, starting with Kinana:

Many anti Islamics have used this incident of the torture of Kinana to attack the integrity of the Prophet. When I first read about it, I myself was quite shocked that the Prophet would torture some one just because of some treasure.
Indeed Islam teaches us that treatment of the prisoners of war is a must. For the evidence you can read

<http://www.islamonline.net/english/introducingislam/politics/System/article05.shtml>
<http://muslim-canada.org/pow.html>
<http://www.answering-christianity.com/prisoners_of_war.htm>

Now back to the Kinana issue. Actually the source of this story is invalid. Not because the source is weak, but because there is no source!

Having left Medina and settled at Khaibar, the Banu Nadir started hatching a wide-spread conspiracy against Islam. Their leaders, Sallam Ibn Abi-al Huqauaiq, Huyayy Ibn Akhtab, Kinana al-Rabi and others came to Mecca, met the Quraish and told them that Islam could be destroyed."
(Allama Shibli Nu'Mani, Sirat-Un-Nabi, volume II, p 106)

This goes to show that Kinana was a war criminal. Lets read on...

" While describing the battle of Khaibar, the history writers have committed a serious blunder in reporting a totally baseless report, which has become a common place. It is said that the Prophet ( Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had granted amnesty to the Jews on condition that they would not hide anything. When Kinana Ibn Rabi' refused to give any clue to the hidden treasures, the Prophet ( peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered Zubair to adopt stern measures to force a disclosure. Zubair branded his chest with a hot flint again and again, till he was on the point of death. At last he ordered Kinana to be put to death and all the Jews were made slaves.
The whole truth in the story is that Kinana was put to death. But it was not for his refusal to give a clue to the hidden treasure. He was put to death because he had killed Mahmud Ibn Maslama (also Muslima). Tabari had reported it in unambiguous words: " Then the Holy Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave Kinana to Muhammad Ibn Maslama (Muslima), " and he put him to death in retaliation of the murder of his own brother, Mahmud Ibn Maslama (Muslima)."
In the rest of the report, both Tabari and Ibn Hisham have quoted it from Ibn Ishaq, but Ibn Ishaq does not name any narrator. Traditionalists, in books on Rijal, have explicitly stated that Ibn Ishaq used to borrow from the Jews stories concerning the battle of the Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). As Ibn Ishaq does not mention the name of any narrator whatsoever in this case, there is every likelihood of the story of having been passed on by the Jews.

That a man should be tortured with burns on his chest by the sparks of a flint is too heinous a deed for a Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who had earned for himself the title of Rahma'lil Alamin (Mercy for all the worlds). After all, did he not let the woman who had sought to poison him go scot free? Who would expect such a soul to order human body to be so burnt for the sake of a few coins.

As a matter of fact, Kinana Ibn Rabi Ibn al-Huquaiq had been granted his life on the condition that he would never break faith or make false statements. He had also given his word, according to one of the reports, that if he did anything to the contrary, he could be put to death. Kinana played false, and the immunity granted to him was withdrawn. He killed Mahmud Ibn Maslama (Muslima) and had, therefore to suffer for it, as we have already stated on the authority of Tabari."
(Allama Shibli Nu'Mani, Sirat-Un-Nabi, volume II, p 173-174)

As we can see there is no evidence what so ever for this story of Kinana because there is no narration or source given. It was contrary to the teachings of the Quran and the Prophet's character. Therefore, Christians have to stop using this argument against the glorious Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Immediately following the conquest of Khaibar, a Jewish woman prepared a dinner for Muhammad and some of his men. Unknown to the Muslims was that she had put a poison into the lamb (some say goat) that was served at dinner. Muhammad ate some of the poisoned lamb and died as a result three years later.

My Response

Tell me what is this poison that kills a man THREE years later after taking it? Doesn't that sound strange to you? And also this poison was meant to have an immediate effect, not a long term effect and then killing the person, the poison was meant to kill the person on the spot.

PART A - THE POISONING OF MUHAMMAD

A1
From Bukhari's Hadith 3.786:
Narrated Anas bin Malik: A Jewess brought a poisoned (cooked) sheep for the Prophet who ate from it. She was brought to the Prophet and he was asked, "Shall we kill her?" He said, "No." I continued to see the effect of the poison on the palate of the mouth of Allah's Apostle.

A2
From Bukhari's Hadith 4.394: Narrated Abu Huraira: When Khaibar was conquered, a roasted poisoned sheep was presented to the Prophet as a gift (by the Jews). The Prophet ordered, "Let all the Jews who have been here, be assembled before me." The Jews were collected and the Prophet said (to them), "I am going to ask you a question. Will you tell the truth?" They said, "Yes." The Prophet asked, "Who is your father?" They replied, "So-and-so." He said, "You have told a lie; your father is so-and-so." They said, "You are right." He said, "Will you now tell me the truth, if I ask you about something?" They replied, "Yes, O Abu Al-Qasim; and if we should tell a lie, you can realize our lie as you have done regarding our father." On that he asked, "Who are the people of the (Hell) Fire?" They said, "We shall remain in the (Hell) Fire for a short period, and after that you will replace us." The Prophet said, "You may be cursed and humiliated in it! By Allah, we shall never replace you in it." Then he asked, "Will you now tell me the truth if I ask you a question?" They said, "Yes, O Abu Al-Qasim." He asked, "Have you poisoned this sheep?" They said, "Yes." He asked, "What made you do so?" They said, "We wanted to know if you were a liar in which case we would get rid of you, and if you are a prophet then the poison would not harm you."

A3
From Ibn Sa'd page 249:
Verily a Jewish woman presented poisoned (meat of) a she goat to the apostle of Allah. He took a piece form it, put it into his mouth, chewed it and threw it away. Then he said to the Companions: "Halt! Verily, its leg tells me that it is poisoned." Then he sent for the Jewish woman and asked her; "What induced you to do what you have done?" She replied, "I wanted to know if you are true; in that case Allah will surely inform you, and if you are a liar I shall relieve the people of you."

A4
From Ibn Sa'd page 249: [different narrator]
The apostle of Allah and his companions ate from it. He gave orders and she was put to death. [SEE NOTE 1]

A5
From Ibn Sa'd page 250: [different narrator]
Verily a woman of the Jews of Khaibar presented poisoned (meat of) goat to the apostle of Allah. The he recognized that it was poisoned, so he sent for her and asked her, "What induced you to do what you have done?" She replied, "I thought if you are a prophet, Allah will inform you, and if you are a pretender, I shall relieve people of you. When the apostle of Allah felt sick, he got himself "cupped". [SEE NOTE 2]

A6
From Ibn Sa'd pages 251, 252: [different narrator]

....When the apostle of Allah conquered Khaibar and he had peace of mind, Zaynab Bint al-Harith the brother of Marhab, who was the spouse of Sallam Ibn Mishkam, inquired, "Which part of the goat is liked by Muhammad?" They said, "The foreleg." Then she slaughtered one from her goats and roasted it (the meat). Then she wanted a poison which could not fail. .... The apostle of Allah took the foreleg, a piece of which he put into his mouth. Bishr took another bone and put it into his mouth. When the apostle of Allah ate one morsel of it Bishr ate his and other people also ate from it. Then the apostle of Allah said, "Hold back your hands! because this foreleg; ...informed me that it is poisoned. Thereupon Bishr said, "By Him who has made you great! I discovered it from the morsel I took. Nothing prevented me from emitting it out, but the idea that I did not like to make your food unrelishing. When you had eaten what was in your mouth I did not like to save my life after yours, and I also thought you would not have eaten it if there was something wrong.

Bishr did not rise form his seat but his color changed to that of "taylsan" (a green cloth)..........The apostle of Allah sent for Zaynab and said to her, "What induced you to do what you have done?" She replied, "You have done to my people what you have done. You have killed my father, my uncle and my husband, so I said to myself, "If you are a prophet, the foreleg will inform you; and others have said, "If you are a king we will get rid of you.""......

The apostle of Allah lived after this three years till in consequence of his pain he passed away. During his illness he used to say, "I did not cease to find the effect of the (poisoned) morsel, I took at Khaibar and I suffered several times (from its effect) but now I feel the hour has come of the cutting of my jugular vein."

A7
From Tabari Volume 8, page 123, 124:

When the messenger of God rested from his labor, Zaynab bt. al-Harith, the wife of Sallam b. Mishkam, served him a roast sheep. She had asked what part of the sheep the messenger of God liked best and was told that it was the foreleg. So she loaded that part with poison, and she poisoned the rest of the sheep too. Then she brought it. When she set it before the messenger of God, he took the foreleg and chewed a bit of it, but he did not swallow it. With him was Bishr b. al-Bara b. Marur, who, like the messenger of God, took some of it; Bishr, however, swallowed it, while the messenger of God spat it out saying,

"This bone informs me that it has been poisoned." He asked, "What led you to do this?" She said: "How you have afflicted my people is not hidden from you. So I said, "If he is a prophet, he will be informed; but if he is a king, I shall be rid of him"". The prophet forgave her. Bishr died of the food he had eaten.

A8
From Tabari Volume 8, page 124: [different narrator]
The messenger of God said during the illness from which he died - the mother of Bishr had come in to visit him - "Umm Bishr, at this very moment I feel my aorta being severed because of the food I ate with your son at Khaybar." [See NOTE 3]

My Response
Already note the problems with Silas' conclusion, the hadiths he quotes refute his position! Note:

From Tabari Volume 8, page 123, 124:
When the messenger of God rested from his labor, Zaynab bt. al-Harith, the wife of Sallam b. Mishkam, served him a roast sheep. She had asked what part of the sheep the messenger of God liked best and was told that it was the foreleg. So she loaded that part with poison, and she poisoned the rest of the sheep too. Then she brought it. When she set it before the messenger of God, he took the foreleg and chewed a bit of it, but he did not swallow it. With him was Bishr b. al-Bara b. Marur, who, like the messenger of God, took some of it; Bishr, however, swallowed it, while the messenger of God spat it out saying, "This bone informs me that it has been poisoned." He asked, "What led you to do this?" She said: "How you have afflicted my people is not hidden from you. So I said, "If he is a prophet, he will be informed; but if he is a king, I shall be rid of him"". The prophet forgave her. Bishr died of the food he had eaten.

Note the first problem Silas has, the companion of the prophet who did eat from the poisoned lamb died when he ate the lamb, this shows the poison was meant to have an immediate affect, to kill the person on the spot, not to have a long term effect on the person.

That is not the only problem:

From Bukhari's Hadith 4.394: Narrated Abu Huraira: When Khaibar was conquered, a roasted poisoned sheep was presented to the Prophet as a gift (by the Jews). The Prophet ordered, "Let all the Jews who have been here, be assembled before me." The Jews were collected and the Prophet said (to them), "I am going to ask you a question. Will you tell the truth?" They said, "Yes." The Prophet asked, "Who is your father?" They replied, "So-and-so." He said, "You have told a lie; your father is so-and-so." They said, "You are right." He said, "Will you now tell me the truth, if I ask you about something?" They said, "We wanted to know if you were a liar in which case we would get rid of you, and if you are a prophet then the poison would not harm you."

This Muhammedan with the help of other Muhammedan (I guess it is Abdullah Smith) trying to sell their lies and to discredit their own religious texts regarding death of Muhammad. Since you mentioned Silas and the Answering-Islam site, read a refutation below to your mendacious claims.

More on Muhammad and Poison:
by Answering-Islam

Examining Abdullah Smith's War on Islam
As Well as His Continuous Intellectual Suicide Mission

Sam Shamoun & Jochen Katz

Abdullah Kareem Smith is not content with merely attacking the Christian faith and the Holy Bible, but also enjoys discrediting the official texts of his own (false) religion. Smith wrote a "rebuttal" (*) to undermine the allegedly authentic, sound reports that quote Muhammad as admitting that the illness that eventually led to his death was the result of poisoned food that he had eaten four years earlier.

Smith asserts that:

Christian missionaries forge their own interpretations to divert Believers away from Islam, the solution to mankind's problems. The Holy Quran is absolutely free of rubbish and obscene material. The Prophets of God are respected in the highest level; Christians do not discredit their prophethood for corruption and sin, yet they discredit the Prophet Muhammad for "eating poison". Yet the biographies of Muhammad are clear that he lived for many years after consuming the poison. The Prophet displayed tremendous energy after eating the poison, showing that the poison had no effect on him. The Prophet detected the poison whereas the companions failed to detect it.

The Prophet lived for four years after the poison!

Smith conveniently brushes aside the fact that these same biographies are just as clear that Muhammad's illness was caused by the poison which he had ingested years earlier:

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

A Jewess brought a poisoned (cooked) sheep for the Prophet who ate from it. She was brought to the Prophet and he was asked, "Shall we kill her?" He said, "No." I continued to see the effect of the poison on the palate of the mouth of Allah's Apostle. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 47, Number 786)

Narrated Ibn Abbas:

'Umar bin Al-Khattab used to let Ibn Abbas sit beside him, so 'AbdurRahman bin 'Auf said to 'Umar, "We have sons similar to him." 'Umar replied, "(I respect him) because of his status that you know." 'Umar then asked Ibn 'Abbas about the meaning of this Holy Verse:-- "When comes the help of Allah and the conquest of Mecca..." (110.1)

Ibn 'Abbas replied, "That indicated the death of Allah's Apostle which Allah informed him of." 'Umar said, "I do not understand of it except what you understand." Narrated 'Aisha: The Prophet in his ailment in which he died, used to say, "O 'Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar, and at this time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 59, Number 713)

Anas reported that a Jewess came to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) with poisoned mutton and he took of that what had been brought to him (Allah's Messenger). (When the effect of this poison were felt by him) he called for her and asked her about that, whereupon she said: I had determined to kill you. Thereupon he said: Allah will never give you the power to do it. He (the narrator) said that they (the Companion's of the Holy Prophet) said: Should we not kill her? Thereupon he said: No. He (Anas) said: I felt (the affects of this poison) on the uvula of Allah's Messenger. (Sahih Muslim, Book 026, Number 5430)

Narrated AbuSalamah:

Muhammad ibn Amr said on the authority of AbuSalamah, and he did not mention the name of AbuHurayrah: The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) used to accept presents but not alms (sadaqah).

This version adds: So a Jewess presented him at Khaybar with a roasted sheep which she had poisoned. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) ate of it and the people also ate.

He then said: Take away your hands (from the food), for it has informed me that it is poisoned. Bishr ibn al-Bara' ibn Ma'rur al-Ansari died.

So he (the Prophet) sent for the Jewess (and said to her): What motivated you to do the work you have done?

She said: If you were a prophet, it would not harm you; but if you were a king, I should rid the people of you. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) then ordered regarding her and she was killed. He then said about the pain of which he died: I continued to feel pain from the morsel which I had eaten at Khaybar. This is the time when it has cut off my aorta. (Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 39, Number 4498)

With the foregoing in mind we proceed to ask Smith some questions:

Is Smith claiming that Muhammad, Aisha, Anas etc. didn't know what they were talking about? Does Smith know better than Muhammad? He explicitly says that he felt the effect of that poison many times, and he himself attributes his death to the poison. Was that merely Muhammad's paranoia, and he simply imagined this even though it was not true?
Is he therefore accusing Muhammad and his companions of being ignorant since he knows more than they did regarding the effects of poison, i.e. that it is not possible for someone to be harmed by poisoned food which had been eaten four years earlier?
If so does this mean that he is adopting the initial position of Osama Abdallah who basically slandered his prophet Muhammad, Aisha his wife, and God's angels for erroneously believing that Muhammad was bewitched when in reality he was suffering from Alzheimer's disease (according to Osama)? (1; 2; 3; 4; 5; 6; 7)
Or is Smith saying that these Muslim sources are wrong, that they are fabricated texts? If so, wouldn't this again be similar to Osama who decides to attack and discredit texts that are deemed authentic and foundational to Islam by the majority of Sunni scholars, only accepting whatever happens to suit his fancy and serve his purpose? (See The Islamic Beliefs that I embrace and the deviant "Islamic" beliefs that I condemn!)

Smith then cited the following:

Once the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) was given food mixed with poison to eat. He who ate it first expired, but the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) lived for four years even after taking that food. That food told the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam): There is poison in me.

In his haste to refute what his own Islamic sources proclaim, Smith overlooked one important fact: Muhammad, who supposedly heard the food tell him it was poisoned, was utterly incapable of preventing his friend from eating and dying because of it! If Muhammad really knew that the food was poisoned then surely he would have done something to prevent his friend from eating it.

After all, the Holy Bible records the following event where the prophet Elisha saved certain prophets from the harmful effects of poisonous food:

"Elisha returned to Gilgal and there was a famine in that region. While the company of the prophets was meeting with him, he said to his servant, 'Put on the large pot and cook some stew for these men.' One of them went out into the fields to gather herbs and found a wild vine. He gathered some of its gourds and filled the fold of his cloak. When he returned, he cut them up into the pot of stew, though no one knew what they were. The stew was poured out for the men, but as they began to eat it, they cried out, 'O man of God, there is death in the pot!' And they could not eat it. Elisha said, 'Get some flour.' He put it into the pot and said, 'Serve it to the people to eat.' And there was nothing harmful in the pot." 2 Kings 4:38-41 NIV

Why couldn't Muhammad have done the same for his friend if he was truly a prophet like the OT prophets?

Moreover, specific narrations actually provide evidence that Muhammad only realized that his food was poisoned after seeing what had happened to his companion:

... When the Apostle of Allah, may Allah bless him, conquered Khaybar and he had peace of mind, Zaynab Bint al-Harith, the brother of Marhab, who was the spouse of Sallam Ibn Mishkam, inquired: Which part of the goat is liked by Muhammad? They said: The foreleg. Then she slaughtered one from her goats and roasted it (the meat). Then she wanted a poison which could not fail... The Apostle of Allah, may Allah bless him, took the foreleg, a piece of which he put into his mouth. Bishr Ibn al-Barra took another bone and put it into his mouth. When the Apostle of Allah, may Allah bless him, ate one morsel of it Bishr ate his and other people also ate from it. Then the Apostle of Allah, may Allah bless him, said: Hold back your hands! because this foreleg... informed me that it is poisoned. Thereupon Bishr said: By Him who has made you great! I discovered it from the morsel I took. Nothing prevented me from emitting it out, but the idea that I did not like to make your food unrelishing. When you had eaten what was in your mouth I did not like to save my life after yours, and I also thought you would not have eaten it if there was something wrong.

Bishr did not rise from his seat but his color changed to that of taylsan (a green cloth)... The Apostle of Allah, may Allah bless him, sent for Zaynab and said to her: What induced you to do what you have done? She replied: You have done to my people what you have done. You have killed my father, my uncle and my husband, so I said to myself: If you are a prophet, the foreleg will inform you; and others have said: If you are a king we will get rid of you...

The Apostle of Allah, may Allah bless him, lived after this three years till in consequence of his pain he passed away. During his illness he used to say: I did not cease to find the effect of the (poisoned) morsel, I took at Khaybar and I suffered several times (from its effect) but now I feel the hour has come of the cutting of my jugular vein, which is a vein in the back... (Ibn Sa'ad's Kitab Al-Tabaqat Al-Kabir, English translation by S. Moinul Haq, M.A., PH.D assisted by H.K. Ghazanfar M.A. (Kitab Bhavan Exporters & Importers, 1784 Kalan Mahal, Daryaganj, New Delhi - 110 002 India], Volume II, pp. 251-252; bold and italic emphasis ours)

Observe that Bishr clearly realized that something was wrong with the meat and wanted to spit it out, but he instead swallowed because he did not want Muhammad's enjoyment of the food be lessened by his doing so. Bishr clearly ate and died because Muhammad did NOT realize at first that this meat was bad or poisoned. Bishr only ate, because Muhammad had eaten first, though probably only a little.

Second, if Bishr was able to realize that the meat was poisoned then there is no reason to think that Muhammad did not realize this simply from the taste (and maybe already seeing the fast effect on his companion) that the food was poisoned. There is no need to look for a prophetic insight. If Muhammad had had that insight BEFORE touching the meat, that would have been more impressive. After having tasted it and probably even seeing its effect on Bishr, and maybe feeling some of it himself, the explanation for this insight is entirely natural.

Thus, one can make the inference from the foregoing that it wasn't the food that informed Muhammad (which is nothing more than a fable that Muslims fabricated in order to portray Muhammad as a miracle-working prophet) but the statements of his dying friend which made him aware of the poison; but even then it was too late since he had already taken a bite of the food and, according to his own reported words, eventually succumbed to the effects of that very poison some four years later!

In light of this we have some additional questions to ask Smith:

If Muhammad had been supernaturally informed that the food was poisoned why did he eat from it as the narrations indicate? Why not inspire Muhammad before he ingested any of the poisoned food so that four years later he wouldn't think that this is what caused his fatal illness?
More importantly, why didn't the revelation come to Muhammad before his friend ate the poison? Why didn't Allah inspire him in time to prevent his companion from eating and thereby spare his life?

Smith refers to reports of Muhammad having the strength to fast which he assumes he could not have if he were suffering from poison. There are two problems with Smith's reasoning:

To quote narrations that show Muhammad fasted doesn't resolve the problem but compounds it, since it demonstrates that there are gross contradictions and inconsistencies within the so-called authentic ahadith.
It doesn't follow that his fasting somehow disproves that he suffered from the poison since it may have taken him sometime to experience its full effects. This is precisely what one Islamic biography implies:

He asked that Al-Hasan and Al-Husain be brought to him. He kissed them and recommended that they be looked after. He asked to see his wives. They were brought to him. He preached them and told them to remember Allâh. Pain grew so much severe that the trace of poison he had at Khaibar came to light. It was so sore that he said to 'Aishah: "I still feel the painful effect of that food I tasted at Khaibar. I feel as if death is approaching." [ibid 2/637] He ordered the people to perform the prayers and be attentive to slaves. He repeated it several times. [ibid 2/637] (Safiur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri, Ar-Raheeq Al-Makhtum (THE SEALED NECTAR) Biography of the Noble Prophet [pbuh], "The Last Day Alive"; source; bold and underline emphasis ours)

The following hadith provides further substantiation:

Narrated Umm Salamah
Umm Salamah said: Allah's Messenger, you necessarily develop trouble every year because of the eating of the poisoned (meat) of sheep. He said: Nothing befalls me but that which was destined for me while Adam was still a lump of clay.
Transmitted by Ibn Majah. (Tirmidhi Hadith, Number 43, taken from the ALIM CD-ROM Version)

Smith also appeals to narrations which mention Allah healing Muhammad:

According to Aisha, the Prophet used to heal himself using the Quran:

Whenever Allah's Apostle became ill, he used to recite the Muawidhatan and blow his breath over himself (after their recitation) and rubbed his hands over his body. So when he was afflicted with his fatal illness. I started reciting the Muawidhatan and blowing my breath over him as he used to blow and made the hand of the Prophet pass over his body. (Narrated by Aisha, Sahih Bukhari, [2]

There are past instances where the Holy Prophet became sick, and was healed by God, so obviously the poison did not to affect him.

What Smith forgot to mention is that this particular hadith is referring to the specific illness which resulted in Muhammad's death:

Narrated Aisha:

Whenever Allah's Apostle became ill, he used to recite the Muawidhatan and blow his breath over himself (after their recitation) and rubbed his hands over his body. So when he was afflicted with his FATAL illness, I started reciting the Muawidhatan and blowing my breath over him as he used to blow and made the hand of the Prophet pass over his body. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 59, Number 723)

Another narration states:

'A'isha reported that when any of the members of the household fell ill Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) used to blow over him by reciting Mu'awwidhatan, and when he suffered from illness of which he died I used to blow over him and rubbed his body with his hand for his hand had greater healing power than my hand. (Sahih Muslim, Book 026, Number 5439)

The foregoing shows that the incantation of the Quran failed Muhammad since Allah didn't heal him of the sickness which caused his death. Thus, Smith's assertion that there were instances where Allah healed Muhammad is a non sequitur since the above narrations demonstrate that Allah didn't always cure him.

Moreover, if Allah allowed Muhammad to die from this illness then he obviously would have no problems permitting his "messenger" to be harmed by poison, especially when the hadiths themselves expressly state that this is what led to Muhammad's death.

To conclude, Smith has failed to provide any substantial argument to refute the rather explicit and clear statements of Muhammad that he died of the poison which a Jewess gave him to expose him as a false prophet.

--------------------

So, Silas does not refute himself. You two do 'cause you reject your own Hadiths clearly stating that Mo died as a result of poisoning. Again, you made a big fool of yourself, Muhammedan.

Sick losers mainly like this pagan who is either the follower of Greco-Roman Pagan order commonly known as Paulian Christianinty or more likely he is a pagan of the follower of a fictitious stone idol of Krishna variety neverthelessthis, this despicable pagan is envious of the truth as presented by Islam and is busy in fabricating and concocting stories with a futile attempt to discredit the true message from God almighty to humanity via a humble, honest, trust worthy and pious human being who could neither read nor write known as Muhammad ( the praised on)
But people like this Pagan are so consumed by hatred they knoweth not that their childish attempts have become one of the factors in the meteoric rise and world wide growth of Islam.

My advice to you Pagan is this , Keep up your work of promulgating Islam.
