According to Manitoba Conservation, at least four cases of polar bear
cannibalism have been confirmed in the northeastern Manitoba community
of Churchill this year. Several more cases are being investigated.
Scientist Andy Derocher, who has spent more than 25 years studying polar
bears in the western Hudson Bay area, said the water usually freezes by
mid-November, allowing the bears to drift away from the mainland and
hunt seals. Warmer-than-normal temperatures this year have delayed that,
he said.
"The cannibalism events are really just a manifestation of the effects
of global warming on the bears," Derocher said. "It's an act of
desperation; it's what they do when they can't find something else to
eat. . . . The animals are winding down on the stored body fat that they
have."

His own government, under Bush, regulated the Polar Bear as a
"Threatened Species"
Canada has not done so as yet. And there have been regional
increases in a few areas of the north, but over all the population is
threatened and Polar Bears need ice floes to hunt. No ice? No way
to get to seals. No seals? No polar bears. And there is no doubt
that the ice in the north is declining. Why else would there be so
much talk over how shipping is open for the first time ever for
massive freighters, and the debate over who owns what resources is a
high priority up there.
Polar bears resemble Fox News viewers in Canada. There may be a
robust number concentrated in certain areas like the outskirts of
Alberta metropolitan areas, and Crap Detector in Toronto. But the
herd (species?) is hardly robust here. :)

Where you aware that the Polar Bear itself is an
adaptation of one or more populations fo Brown Bears to cooler

Maybe you could enlighten us as to how the Polar Bear survived the
Eemian when the global average temperature was 5 degrees warmer or
more then it is now. About 125,000 years ago. The tree line was also
about 200 - 300 miles further north, it was so warm.
Apparently our caveman ancestors and the Polar Bear and coral reefs
survived it.
Here is a repeat for you.
1. Seals are only a part of the Polar Bear's diet.
2. Polar Bears can go for months without eating. Living off their fat
stores.
3. Among the Polar Bears other foods are muskox, reindeer, birds,
eggs, rodents, shellfish, crabs, and other polar bears, and also
plants, including berries, roots, and kelp among others.
4. Polar Bears will adapt... as they have in the past. As a matter
of fact, the Polar Bear is an adaption of a population of Brown Bears
many many tens of thousands of years ago that adapted to colder
conditions.
5. Polar Bears lived through the Eemian.. 5 - 10 degrees warmer then
now. They lived through the Roman Warm Period and the Medieval Warm
Period and others. They adapt.
6.. As we now know, Polar Bears, and other animals, and coral
reefs.... things that the AGW Alarmist tell us are in dire danger
from a degree or two warming (that happened since the Little Ice Age
ended) well, it turns out that they are able to adapt to changing
climate
conditions much better then we were initially led to believe.
That information should not have surprised us as they have
survived many many climate changes in the past much more severe then
this one. Some of those changes were as much as ten degrees in a
couple of decades.... much faster then now...(Abrupt Climate Change)
and some were much slower then now.
Adaptation in one thing that life is very good at.
