Lloyd L. Plaine Lawyer
Lloyd L. Plaine, 62, a lawyer who was considered a top expert in trusts and
estates, died Feb 2. [2010] at her home in Chevy Chase. She had an adverse
reaction to a prescription drug.
Ms. Plaine was a partner at the firm of Sutherand Asbill & Brennan, where
she chaired the individual tax planning team. The peer review publication
"Best Lawyers" named Ms. Plaine Washington's top trusts and estates lawyer
for 2010. She was named to the "Best Lawyers in America" list for trusts and
estates 16 years in a row.
Lloyd Leva, a native of Washington, was a 1965 graduate of National
Cathedral School. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1969
with a degree in economics.
She received a law degree from Georgetown University in 1975 and shortly
after became an associate at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan. She held numerous
leadership positions within the American Bar Association.
Her marriage to Daniel J. Plaine ended in divorce.
Survivors include her husband of 11 years, James Hill of Chevy Chase; and
two stepchildren, Sarah Winberg of New Orleans and Chad Hill of Miami.
