I vaguely remember him as being short with a leathery funny face, but I
can't find a photo. Also, didn't he do a bit where he was
super-imposed in the MGM lion photo, playing off his name?

And the plot thickens. I found a photo of Leo DeLyon, who had a
similar but smaller career as DeLeon, but He doesn't look anything like
the guy I'm thinking of.

He played one of the gay guys on Barney Miller, right?

It's Yarmy's Army. As a fellow member, I knew Chris -- not well, but well
enough to like him. I'm trying to find a photo of him to post.

So, Jack DeLeon is also known as Christopher Weeks... so would that
mean that the guy here (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0216739/) is the
same as this guy (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0917304/)?

Ah, I see. Well, that should take about a year or two to go through,
knowing the IMDb. :/ Seriously, though, this saddens me quite a bit; I
just recently re-watched the episode of "DuckTales" in which Weeks
voiced the cowardly "Major Courage". Even sadder, though, is that's the
only thing I know him from (although I may have seen him on "Get
Smart", "Sanford and Son", or "Night Court" and just can't remember; I
have yet to see any "Barney Miller," though).

I just found out he lived across the street from me! Three years I've been
here, seeing him once a month or so at Yarmy's Army meetings, and I never
knew that. What a world.

Yes. Jack came up in the days when his name sounded too "Ethnic".
Very few people pronounced it the way he did anyway without any
particular accent. So there came a time when he gave in to pressure to
use a name that didn't carry any ethnic overtones and I believe it was
a group brainstorming session that came up with "Christopher Weeks".
If you care to know more, let me know. I knew him quite well.

Dean Martin would be another of many examples of this. His original
name: Dino Paul Crocetti.

My favorite was Walter Matthau: Walter Matuschanskayasky

Although I have read somewhere that Matuschanskayasky was a joke that
Matthaw made about his real name.

Name changes among movie/tv celebrities are so common as to be almost
unremarkable though.

Reminds me of when Vic Damone backed out of playing Johnny Fontane in
"The Godfather" because, he said, the film was demeaning to
Italian-Americans. Esquire magazine noted this among its Dubious
Achievements Awards for that year with the hedline WHICH IS WHY HE
CHANGED HIS NAME FROM VITO FARANOLA.

Here is a website with his headshot from the 1990's:
www.gpproductions.com/acts/weeks.html
Highlight and copy this into your browser and it'll take you right to
the search result for his page.

Here is one with his photo as "Marty Morrison" on "Barney Miller":

I guarantee these two sites are definitely the right person.

Thanks for making the links clickable. Not my forte.

By the way, Jack did the quintessential one-man show as James Cagney
and is the voice of Cagney (which had to be approved by the Cagney
estate) at the MGM theme park in Florida where there did animatronic
recreations of classic movies scenes. He was particularly happy that
he was approved for that and deservedly so.

Those of us who knew him well enough to know when he was born seem to
be honoring the fact that he never disclosed his age while he was
living. I'm sure his date of birth was purposely left out of his
obituary. I will not go against that out of respect. Suffice it to
say, he lived a long, full life and he will be greatly missed.
