WARNER ROBINS - Two people on a morning walk Tuesday near a
Houston County subdivision discovered a wrecked motorcycle and
the body of its rider in a deep ravine.

Houston County Sheriff's Cpl. Sean Alexander identified the
victim as David Leroy Vought Jr., 32.

Vought, who would have celebrated his birthday Dec. 20, had
recently moved from Michigan to 153 Pinewood Drive near Warner
Robins and was an airplane mechanic for ASA Delta in Macon,
Alexander said.

Vought was riding his Yamaha 250 dirt bike on Bonanza Drive near
Peachtree Boulevard when he ran off the road, down a ditch, into
a ravine, flipped over and struck a line of trees, Alexander said.

Vought had just come around a curve when he wrecked, Alexander said.

The single vehicle accident apparently happened between midnight
Monday and 7:57 a.m. Tuesday, Alexander said.

The time estimate was based on when Vought was last seen by his
roommate and the discovery of his body, Alexander said.

The two walkers happened to pass by and see Vought's body down
the deep ravine near Peachtree Estates subdivision, Alexander said.

"If you're driving down the road, you'd never see it," Alexander
said.

Anthony Eubanks and his wife, Beatrice, were the two people who
discovered the body. Anthony Eubanks said he probably would not
have seen the body had he not just happened to look over into the
ravine.

The couple raced to the nearest house, but no one was home,
Eubanks said. He said he was then able to flag a woman a couple
of houses down who called 911 on her cell phone.

Eubanks said he then traversed down the ravine to see if there
were any signs of life, though he suspected the man was dead.

Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in the accident,
and Vought's dirt bike was not equipped with a headlight,
Alexander said. Vought was wearing a helmet, Alexander said.

Vought apparently was driving down the road, didn't see the curve
and went off the road after negotiating the curve, Alexander said.
