Stanley C. Lee Stanley C. Lee, age 97, of Erie, died
Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Hamot Hospital. He was
born in Pittsburgh, North Side on May 9, 1911.
He played for the Negro League Baseball Team,
Kansas City Monarchs, for 6 years before becoming the
Manager for the Cleveland Buckeyes.
He founded the Ambassadors, which was a semi-pro
basketball team.
Stanley was the co-owner of the United Labor Club
(U.L.C.) in Erie where he hosted an annual Mother’s
Day and Christmas functions. He was the founder of
the Guys and Dolls Club, he was instrumental in hosting
the Snowflake and Cotton Balls.
He loved watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh
Steelers and the Chicago White Sox.
He was preceded in death by a brother Eddie Lee and a
sister, Eva Garrett. Stanley is survived by his loving wife
of 55 years Virginia, daughter, Victoria McIntosh of
Chicago; grandsons, Mario and Aaron McIntosh, both of
Chicago. He is further survived by several nieces and
nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory,
Inc., 602 West 10th Street on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m.
