Alan Cohen (27 June 1938[1] - 19 October 2007) was an English writer and
broadcaster famous for writing over a dozen popular inspirational books,
including the classics, "The Dragon Doesn't Live Here Anymore" and "I
Had It All the Time." Cohen attended Wadham College, Oxford, Yale
University and University of California, Berkeley.

Alan appeared regularly on national radio and television, including FOX,
CNBC, and many Good Morning shows around the nation. His seminars have
regularly been broadcast via satellite on the Wisdom Channel.

Although having a full schedule as a writer and broadcaster, Alan Cohen
also found time to pursue a career in medicine spending six months at
Dartmouth Medical School in the US studying community mental health
services. In 2000 he received the James Cameron Award for services to
general practice.

His hobby of stamp collecting was also to prove a success such that he
was able to establish a company dealing in rare US postage stamps and
plate blocks, operating from Cathedral Station, NY. However constant
problems with non-paying US customers finally drive him to open a Debt
Collection Agency in Massachusetts, a state known across the USA as "the
debtor's retreat."

He was a regular panellist on The News Quiz and Call My Bluff and wrote
both his own and the Notebook columns for The Times. Cohen was editor of
Punch from 1978 to 1987, and of The Listener from 1987 to 1989, and he
also read Penthouse regularly for the editorial content and The Daily
Mail for the pictures on page 3.

Mark Damazer, controller of Radio 4, said his death was a "terrible
loss".

I saw the subject and thought it said Alan Coren, and I was like,
fuck. Then I saw it was Cohen and I was like, Phew, no offence to Mrs
Cohen.

Now you're saying it was Alan Coren after all?

Fuck.

You're thinking of Ethan Cohen, the renowned film director (and brother
of Julian, the cellist) famous for such classics as Bareback Mountain
and The Blair Brown Project.

But no, he's not dead yet.

in alt.obituaries.
