Terry Lester -- In Loving Memory

I'd like to take a moment to pay my respects to the memory of Terry Lester who
passed away November 28th. Terry and I had crossed paths, but never met before
he left the role of Mason on Santa Barbara. I knew we had both played Petruchio
in Cole Porter's Kiss Me, Kate, and asked him if he would sing "Where is the
Life that Late I Led" with me as a duet at a benefit for Santa Susana Rep in
the early 90's. He agreed, and we became friends. He later did several plays
for the company, including El Gallo in The Fantastiks, Boolie in Driving Miss
Daisy, the Ghost of Christmas Present in A Christmas Carol, De Guiche in
Cyrano de Bergerac (the only time we actually acted together onstage), and
Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream. He was a terrific singer, a great actor,
and a first-rate human being. He will be deeply missed.

Graduated from the same High School (Southport High School) in Indianapolis,
a couple years after he did. It's kind of funny, most people thought it
would be his sister Sandy who made a name for herself in entertainment.
Looks like he worked pretty steadily for the most part.

I don't watch soaps, but his name looked familiar, and I checked out his career
at IMDB. I remember him from a mid 70's Saturday morning sci-fi series called
Ark II where he was the lead character of the show. He also had small roles in
the first two Airport movies.

If my memory serves me correctly, on 09 Dec 2003 10:02:29 GMT, Mpoconnor7 issued the following challenge to face my invincible Iron Chefs:
: I don't watch soaps, but his name looked familiar, and I checked out his career

: at IMDB. I remember him from a mid 70's Saturday morning sci-fi series called
: Ark II where he was the lead character of the show. He also had small roles in
: the first two Airport movies.

Leave it to 70's Cartoon Nostaglia to elicit the "Oh Crap THAT'S WHo He
Is!" reaction.
