I didn't see that anyone else posted this, so I thought I'd do it. Actress
Joanna Moore died 22 Nov 1997 at age 63 in Indian Wells, CA. She appeared in
Alfred Hitchcock Presents tv shows, Maverick, Bewitched, Andy Griffith and
other shows. She was the mother of actress Tatum O'Neal, and the ex wife of
actor Ryan O'Neal. She had a southern type accent, very good looking woman. I
remember her most on Maverick. Too bad she's gone now.

She was also in "Follow That Dream" with Elvis. And she was one of
Andy's many girlfriends on the Andy Griffith Show.

Joanna played one of the aliens (Eros or Tanna, I forget which one was
which) in Ed Wood's infamous PLAN NINE FROM OUTER SPACE. She lived that
one down and had a fine career as a writer and TV director. Sorry she's
gone.

I screwed up. It was really late when I posted that, and I apologize
profusely for the error. The PLAN NINE actress I was thinking of was
Joanna Lee, not Joanna Moore.

BTW, Joanna Moore is in the IMdb under the name Joanna Cook Moore. She has
a couple of dozen listed credits.

Sorry to hear she passed away as well. What was the cause?

Short of breath, I guess.

Now, wasn't she married to Ryan O'Neal? She is Tatum's mother? Didn't
she get heavily into drugs -- so much so that that was the reason that she
and Ryan divorced?

I noticed that she was in a few TV movies every once in awhile so I
assume that she was getting her life back together.

I don't think O'Neal ever married the mother of any of his children.

: Oh, that's not true...he was married to both Joanna Moore and
: Leigh Taylor-Young (Mia Farrow's "replacement"* on Peyton Place) -
: Leigh and Ryan had a son. It's only Farrah he didn't marry.

Hmm,I only remember L T-Y from THE GANG THAT COULDN'T SHOOT STRAIGHT
and SOYLENT GREEN.

Ryan O Neal was a nothing when he married Moore. After success in a tv series
he dumped her.

Ryan O'Neal dumped his wife after his first success? Oh, that's never happened
in Hollywood before. Ever hear of Kevin Costner, Billy Bob Thornton, and a host
of other Hollyweird types?

She also played one of the mayors of Rome in PICKET FENCES in the early
'90s. Back around 1970, she was a dependable Hippie Chick in a number of
films.

Thanks for the info about Ryan O'Neal and his wives, BTW.

Isn't there already an older actor named Patrick O'Neal?
With the one-to-a-name rule, this would be awkward.

The elder Patrick O'Neal died some time back, didn't he? That makes his
name available under SAG rules, although his heirs might somehow try to
claim the name still has value to them and so prevents its use by others.

The older character actor Patrick O'Neal assumed room temperature
a few years back, if I'm not mistaken.
