I never said I HATED my country, I don't enjoy many things about it (like the
abortion clinic bombing crazy so-called Christians, the redneck hicks who marry
their siblings, the KKK, Affirmative Action, mental people being crowded out of
asylums and onto the streets, the quality of education [or lack of thereof],
overpaid athletes and movie stars, the ultra-conservative Bible Belt, the psychotic
liberals that protest everything just for the hell of it, and Mariah Carey). And
somewhere in that mess is the oasis called New York...ok maybe not but it's better
than most places.

I've only been posting here for about three months, but I'd been lurking
for almost twice as long before then. In that time, I have found
Mathieu to be nothing less than an immensely valuable member of the
group, forwarding news on Celine that most of us would never get to see
-- and he does so in French and English! I could never post in French
even close to as well as he does en anglais, so I have only the utmost
respect for him.
As for Anna, I enjoy reading her posts. What I especially like is that
she tells us exactly how she feels -- she pulls no punches (to borrow a
cliche) and she sugarcoats nothing. Of course, the fact that she hates
Mariah as much as I do endears herself to me even more.
As far as I'm concerned, they both help to make this a great place for
me to be.
