Raymond E. Smith Sr. , Portsmouth

Raymond Eugene Smith Sr., 66, of the 3300 block of Arlington Place,
died June 15, 2007, in a Portsmouth hospital. A native of Bluefield,
W.Va., he retired from the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam
War. He also worked at Bob€™s 24 Hour Mobile Locksmith in Virginia
Beach. Mr. Smith was an avid fisherman and enjoyed bluegrass music.
Survivors include his wife, Becky J. Smith; a daughter, Ramona Kate
Bell and husband James; a son, Raymond E. Smith Jr. and wife Stacey,
all of Portsmouth; two sisters, Bernetta Mitchell and husband David
and Judy Parker; three brothers, Al Smith and wife Sandy, Glen Smith
and wife Delores and Wayne Smith; a grandson, Raymond E. Smith III;
and his stepmother, Carolyn M. Smith of Nashville, N.C. A funeral will
be at 10 a.m. Monday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd.
Chapel, by the Rev. Roger Mullins. Burial will be in Albert G. Horton
Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the
funeral home Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
