People who follow politics, most of them anyway, are really stupid. Worse, they pretend to be smart. For example, when Nixon was impeached and quit office, whenever I'd ask people why it happened they'd say, "Watergate." I'd say, "Yeah, but what is Watergate?" I never met a person who could tell me what it was. So I'd come back with that - "You're accusing the guy of something and you don't even know what it is." To that the response was always the same, and always followed by a short period of hemming and hawing: "Uh, well, he lied."
They'd say he lied. "About what?", I'd say. They'd say, "About Watergate", which of course would bring me back to question number one: "What is Watergate?"
People today are conditioned to see Nixon as a demon of some sort. I remember, perhaps selfishly, that times were not so bad when Nixon was in office. What else can I go on? I am no fan of any politician, not really - but it's scary and sickening how people can be conditioned to think poorly of them.
Nixon was too smart to be assassinated. Kennedy was a fool. Should have had his eyes open that day in Dallas. Fool.
